Mass Effect or Bioshock?

Alright, I like action/shooter games and RPGS, both of which these are. Bioshock has much more combat from what I've seen, but a less gripping story. I prefer more fighting and combat but if it's a crap story I kinda feel empty when playing and get bored. But if theres almost no combat... I get bored to tears aswell. So which should I get, or in other words, which will keep me glued to the screen, and if so for how long?

re: Mass Effect or Bioshock?

I'd go with Mass Effect. Bioshock, you complete it once ... and that's it. Mass Effect, there are a couple of different endings, different ways to go about completing missions, and different squadmates to try.

Also have to go with Mass Effect. I played the demo for Bioshock a long time ago and was bored to tears. I've had Mass Effect since it came out and I still play it and still love it.

Mass Effect, definitely. I myself was never a fan of Bioshock.

re: Mass Effect or Bioshock?

I prefer Mass Effect. I never bought Bioshock, but I downloaded the demo, and felt it was fairly boring. I know that you will only get a brief glimpse of what a game looks like by playing the demo, but Bioshock always seemed overrated to me. Mass Effect on the other hand has tons of possibilities that kept me coming back. I may buy Bioshock to try the full version since it should be cheep by now.

re: Mass Effect or Bioshock?

I got em both for only 33 bucks altogether.Mass effect and bioshock are both good. I do agree Bioshock starts out boring, but it gets really fun halfway through the second area. So if you can find it for a good price get the full version.

re: Mass Effect or Bioshock?

I would say, go with Bioshock if you like a more combat immersive game. The story line, although not great, is still pretty good.
The Mass Effect story line, though, is probably one of the best. The only issue is that there is a lot of dialogue, and the combat is mediocre most of the time.
But that just me being critical. Both are amazing games are are in my top 3 favorite single player games.

re: Mass Effect or Bioshock?

of course everyone in here is going to say mass effect! its the mass effect forum. Go to bioshocks forum and ask the same question. the only unbiased answer is to just buy them both. their both worthy buys and great games!

re: Mass Effect or Bioshock?

Bioshock and Mass Effect play entirely different from each other. I'd say ME for obv. reasons (not trying to say that Bioshock wasn't any good because it was awesome as well).

re: Mass Effect or Bioshock?

I played through and finished both this year. I felt Mass Effect had a superior story, more interesting characters, and combat was more engaging and fun, though it wasn't too challenging. Also some of the larger fights have an almost epic and cinematic quality to them if you take them fast.

re: Mass Effect or Bioshock?

Have to disagree, Bioshock was superior in style, combat, story, atmosphere... I'd say the replayability of ME was probably a bit better with the classes/side qs etc, but I haven't played either game all the way through more than once, so I wouldn't call either outstanding in that respect anyway.
