Quality and Hype |
|
For the past few "Brothers in Arms" games, the hype surrounding the new games have been off the charts, and over-zealous fans surpass even the comparable mild fanboys of the PS3 and Wii.
UbiSoft and Paradox do so well before releasing the game because they supply a plethora of screenshots and videos, including walkthrough gameplay videos, which really increase their fan base. However, I've noticed that the gameplay videos are really scripted and the game (somewhat) failed to live up to the majority of its hype, such as ultra-realistic A.I. in "Earned in Blood" which was practically nonexistent. Do you think "Hell's Highway" will change the perspective on the "Brothers in Arms" saga by revitalizing what UbiSoft and Paradox have promised or will it fall short of its supreme standards promised in the gameplay videos and interviews like "Road to Hill 30" and "Earned in Blood"? P.S.) Keep in mind that "Brothers in Arms" is my FAVORITE video game saga of all time and that I am in no way disrespecting the two aforementioned games that failed to live up to the hype in this thread. I think they are masterpieces, but I also think that they just fell short of what the UbiSoft/Paradox trailers promised to bring. ------------------- Under Username "Tribulation"

It's not a rumor, it was officially announced by Gearbox on their website in October of 2006. It is scheduled for fiscal year 2007/2008, meaning between April 1st, 2007 and March 31st, 2008. We could be playing the game in 2 months or a year in 2 months, and it's not necessarily due to improvements to the game even though that is the most likely reason. UbiSoft just finished "Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter" in September with the introduction to the game to the PS2 system, and Gearbox also finished "Brothers in Arms: D-Day" for the PSP and has just announced a new first person shooter based on the successful "Aliens" movies.
To do all of this and prepare for a game that has to meet up to a lot of standards on three systems is a lot of work. The Playstation 3 in itself is a bitch to develop games on because of its Cell processor. ------------------- Under Username "Tribulation"

Woops, yeah, made a mistake there, I did mean Gearbox. I must have said Paradox because I've been playing a lot of Hearts of Iron 2 lately, but that's for another topic.

Yes, Pitchford specifically said that we will see more information in the coming months, and that's evident as a new gameplay video was just released.

Have they released any information that said how much money I could expect to shell out for HH? I'm not concerned with the quality of the game; I can see that it's going to be fantastic due to the quality of the screenshots/videos, as well as the amount of time and devotion they've put into this game. Cost is my biggest concern.

For PS3/XBOX 360, around $60. For PC, probably around $40. If they release a special edition package like they did with Road to Hill 30, then I think it will be a larger amount.

Ah, but if I buy a 360 instead of PS3, then it shouldn't be much of a problem.
