Favorite Weapon? |
|
What's your favorite weapon so far from the series and why? What are you looking forward to in the series in terms of weapons?
My favorite has been (so far) the M-1 Garand. I've always had a love for rifles, and a semi-automatic always makes me smile. In terms of what I want to see, I'd love to see a bayonet or even a Panzerschreck. ------------------- ![]() | |

the M1 Garand, it's the only accurate one in any game.

I disagree, I thought that all the weapons in Brothers in Arms were pretty accurate, especially the Thompson at close range and even the MG-42 at long range.

Well, comparatively it could easily be argued that .30-06 is superior in quality to the German 9mm thus explaining its accuracy in most situations. Both rounds were heavy and were produced in pretty high quality factories in both nations, so I suppose they are superior in games because of the aforementioned factors.

I must say Sturmgewehr-1944, simply because I prefer to flank my enemies rather than pick them off with a rifle. Accurate to a degree (especially compared to submachine-guns of the time), decent rate of fire, it manages to combine a bit of the rifle and SMG into one.

The MP-44 was a BITCH to get around in singleplayer, if I remember correctly. On the mission where Rivas dies, "Purple Heart Lane", almost every German had one.

those Fallschirmjaegers are the best trained German troops in Normandy, the best of the best.

Most were veterans of the Greek Campaign, but even more were sent to the Eastern Front as shock troops. The vast majority of German Fallschirmjager divisions were greatly understrength and under equipped, explaining their rapid retreat and in some cases surrender in Normandy following the Allied invasion.

Hardly. The Waffen SS were pretty much the German idea of the United States Marine Corps, which are heavy assault soldiers designed to decimate fixed and defensive enemy positions. Just because you're in the Waffen SS doesn't mean you believe in Hitler's ideas, just like how some soldiers in Iraq don't agree with President Bush. Back on topic.

yeah, i guess your right, so what do you think of the Garand always not being re-loadable on other games but not BIA?

Before learning otherwise, I thought Gearbox had made a serious mistake by making the Garand reloadable mid-clip. But, even though there's a way to do just that, I suppose that an animation should show it clearly, not just as putting in a new clip. The original clip should be ejected, then [whatever happens next]. Same should be applied for weapons like the Kar98k rifle. I don't believe that in reality you can magically put in a new 5-round stripper clip when there's already three rounds in the rifle.

There is an ejection button to the right of the receiver right on the base of the weapon. You press it down with your right hand and then lift the bullets out then put in a new clip. In the PS2 versions the animation of taking the bullets out was absent, in the XBOX version the animation clearly showed Baker/Hartsock taking the remaining ammunition out of the weapon, and I have a feeling Gearbox will be remembering this animation and putting it into Hell's Highway.
