I was just wondering if Gearbox has announced any mode of multiplayer, be it split-screen, co-op, online, or even a Skirmish-type.

Gearbox has announced only that they are revamping the multiplayer system and that a "deathmatch" type mode will now be available, but everyone over there is really hush hush.

I'm hoping a Skirmish mode will be included. That's the main reason I wanted EiB, apart from wanting to continue the story. I don't worry so much about online. When I got RtH30, there would be barely four people on a day, if even. No more than one at a time. And then I checked the stats for EiB when I wanted to get it, and it was the same case.

Yes, and the single-player will be tons more indulging thanks to the next-gen systems, but just in case you want to hang back a little and see how long you can keep your squad alive against oncoming waves of Germans, there's some Skirmish mode that allows you to do just that.

I absolutely love the Brothers in Arms singleplayer, but the multiplayer online experience and the ability to play with other people all over the world is (in my opinion) almost equally enjoyable and gratifying as an experience.

it is fun to do, you think that they will have a map editor like Battlefield 1942 had?, that would make it all the more enjoyable.

No, not for Hell's Highway and certainly not a console game. Perhaps Gearbox will release more maps to download if the game becomes popular.
