I'm one unlucky miner. I have 4 GS Ruststones and 2 Bowguns without any SnS.

So for instance, I receive an SnS ruststone and I always get Hunter's Knife, is there a possibility that it could become a Rusted Weapon?

"Don't be so sad just yet, I don't know if this will apply to the MHF game but I remember a friend of mine making a ruststone guide for the original MH, which stated that if you saved after you got a ruststone, shined it and if it wasn't what you wanted, you'd restart your console. Then you'd go do a quest with the ruststone in your inventory and save after completing the quest. If the new ruststone wasn't what you wanted either {yes it does change with quests oddly enough} then you'd simply restart the console and repeat the trick. Hope this helps rust weapon fanatics."

I'll try to explain it as best as I can.

You start with a random number in order to get RUSTED WEAPONS. Let's say that it is 10. This means that you have to polish 9 ruststones and the 10th will be a rusted weapon. There's no way of telling which number you have. Just polish and count as people have mentioned before. I've also observed that doing missions (but not abandoning them) will make the counter shift to another number.

I experimented it with 20 Ruststones. The first time, I had to polish 11 for the 12th to become RUSTED. The second time, I did a mission and had to polish only 3 for the 4th to become RUSTED. The third time, I did another mission and it took me 18 ruststones to get a RUSTED WEAPON. The last time, I did another mission and the first polish I did, I got a RUSTED WEAPON. Of course, I have no SnS so it sucks but you get the idea.

Here's a more concrete example.

You have 20 Ruststones and the random number generated is 12. You polish the first 11 and the next becomes RUSTED. You RELOAD but DON'T SAVE.

Your next run, you still have your 20 Ruststones and you first do a mission. After the mission, the game generates a new random number, say 2. If you polish a Ruststone, the next will become rusted.

Take note that doing a mission results to a new number to be generated.

the mining point on area 4 is in the middle between areas 6 and 5 or 2 and 3 :P

I've gotten my ruststones from the guild hall quests at the desert, field and hills, swamp, and volcano. I've turned in about 15 total and no rusted weapon.

I think you have to take em on quest again and they will change, hopefully to rusted weapon ( it was posted before )

geting a rusted weapon is random generated so there is no real percentage

on my experience, it was a ladder system...
example:
1 have 10 rust stones/ancient stones, i polished and get the 9th stone to become the rusted/worn weapon (example SNS) so i reload w/o saving and do a quest.. i polish again but this time the 8th stone will be the rusted/worn one and i make sure that i polish the type of weapon i want on this turn...
simple as that...

but i have experienced getting a worn weapon at one polish...worn great sword...other than this thing, i used the ladder system....

The first ruststone i got was a Hunters sword... (the weapon you start off with)

It was a bit pointless

Now i can't find any more

I had almost 30 ruststones(desert and swamp 4* guild mining,trading wyvern marrow or vespoid bladefin to swamp elder and i was doing elder Lao quests) and only one was sns. But i didn't give up and after mining i was polishing them. If i hadn't rusted sns i restart my psp and i was going for another ruststone. When i obtained my rusten sns i had either demonlock and rusted hammer. So i wasn't very dissapointed. I also get earlier ancient blade but its not very good.

Eternal STrife ( a powerfull sword made to kill dragon types..) rathalos for Example////

the damage is kinda weak but..! it can kill a Dragon

+Dragon element 628 or morethan/ i know its powerfull

upgrade.. it will become ( Tarnished Sword)
3rd....
After upgrade again it will become a legendary SWORD
4th UPGRADE AGAIN!??

Wow... on my 3rd ever Ruststone i got rusted Sword (i got Hunter's knife, then Buster Blade+ then Rusted Sword) , that was very lucky

Now i'm just saving up the 40k i need to upgrade it to Eternal Strife, i already have the Earth Crystals (i stocked up over 200 just finding the Ruststones in the first place...)

does this work on MHF1? because i have tried the missions and it all turns out the same, its very frustrating, and i need an eternal strife sword to take down a fatalis!
