Hey I have a new idea, inspired from that recent and incredibly stupid 'Tips on killing an azure rathalos' thread. Rather than giving people the link straight away, just send them the index. So they can get used to searching, not just relying on us.

No there's no need for that. It is a top link AND a sticky. I'm suggesting that when people ask stupid questions that are in the index, we send them the index INSTEAD of the thread. And by send i mean post on there.

Both is better than just the index. It alerts them to the presence of the Index, but doesn't make them look for their thread. Since sometimes it's in the index but under a different name than what the person might think.

Maybe we could put a note when they click 'Post New Message' saying please check the Thread Index. You know like the kind of thing that comes up when they think you've double posted? And say WARNING in big red letters:
