Low Intensity Phasors |
|
Do low intensity phasors in the game really take out subsystems better. I hardly notice a difference. I did notice that you are less likely to damage the enemy's hull, but the damage to the subsystem seems to be the same.

knaggsy is right they do take off quite a bit more than high and they last a lot longer, they don't do any damage to the hull of a ship as well what can be useful

1. Phasers not Phasors
2. Low Intensity just do the same damage but do less per second (so they last longer).

I like to use low intensity weapons when I am like really low on power. It is a little helper yes it is.

I just blew them straight too hell. Low should be used after you used full power, but the game is so horrible that why bother playing in the first place? Klingon Academy is much better than this, not for resolution, but you get more bang for you buck.

Nice sentiment chief.. On the other hand maybe not everyone shares your taste in games.. Bridge Commander has been a long time favorite of mine and obviously many others judging by the huge modding community that still thrives for it.
High power phasers are necessary to punch through shields at the outset of a fight. Once you have worked a hole in an acessable shield arc, you should switch to low power and take advantage of the longer fireing time. I would always use low power if it wasnt so useless at taking shields down. ------------------- AMD Athlon64 X2 5400+ AM2 ECS KA3-MVP AMD 580X Mainboard RAID Striped pair- SATA WD Raptors Saphire ATI X1950PRO 2GB GeiL DDR2 800 Dual Channel Terabyte Internal Storage

I find if you fire continuously you start to do damage to the subsystem. The weaker the shield in that spot, the sooner you start to do damage. Since low intensity lets you fire longer bursts, you can do damage to systems while the shields are still up, even if they're not weakened at all (almost insignificant damage with full shields though). If you have shields in a spot down to yellow, red or black, switch to low intensity and you will see significant damage done to the subsystem if you have a direct shot at it. If you fire 4 quantums and follow by a full burst of low intensity phasors, you should see system health drop pretty damn fast. If you watch the animations, you can even see long energy weapons kind of "burrow" into the shields, culminating in a little explosion on the deck. Also, I think this is a great game
