Pirates of the Caribbean Review |
|
We're rocking out on Saturday night with a Pirates of the Caribbean Review! Check it out here.
Keep in mind that I'm like most of you guys working my way through it. But all of these take overs are too tempting to resist. ------------------- ![]()

Very nice review but a few questions. Would you need to watch the movie to understand the game? Would the game ruin the movie for players who haven't seen it? You said gameplay can be difficult, just how long do you figure the learning curve is to adjust?

Watching the movie isn't a full requirement. At this time I haven't really run into any of the characters from the film that I can recall from the previews. It has a bit of an independent storyline where you make things happen instead in a freeflowing RPG.
The learning curve to adjust to swordfighting is about an hour's worth of persistent work. After that you should be ready to take on most people. Given with time you'll only get better. Keep my little trick to getting the Dragon Fang in mind though and it'll make living a bit easier. There's another sword in Redmond as well hidden within the dungeons that once again takes the power beyond that of the DF. As for ship battles... I'm still learning how to battle properly. I keep getting reamed when I go into a battle where we're on even ships. >_< I need to get one of those Battleships so I can just dominate all. Too bad it's like 200k. I hear things about bugs in the game but I never really ran across them when I played through. I'm not sure if it was certain batches that faced it or if I'm just lucky and I got a good copy somehow or if it's complaints about the XBOX version that rolled onto the commentary for the PC version. =/ ------------------- ![]()

Honestly I tried playing it but was slightly disappointed. I guess after playing FFXI with all the great graphics and such it's hard to find any rpg/mmo that compares. On a scale of 1-10 I'd probably give it a 5. Mind you this is just my opinion.
