Fourth Book?

So, what're your guy's ideas on the fourth book? I think it might involve the Third Generation Spartans. Also, where/what Hasley did to Kelly.

re: Fourth Book?

I think the fourth book will take place before Halo 2. I think it will be about the other Spartans and what they had been doing while the masterchief was on Halo and the fights they were in.

re: Fourth Book?

No, first strike ends right before master chief reaches Earth, I think the fourth book will talk about what happened after that, and maybe also go into Halo 2.

Yes the part about the other Spartans was in the third book, must not have been paying attention when I typed that in. I was pretty sick that day.

re: Fourth Book?

Yeah, the end of Halo: First Strike left a lot of questions, but after playing Halo 2, it too does the same; only making more questions, not answering them. When the 4th book does come out, it will almost undoubtably be a rehash of the second game, only adding much more detail (as in Halo: The Flood, where it actually helps to answer some questions of the game. FoeHammer escaping the POA for example...). However, if you have played the game, you will probably agree with me in that since the game takes on multiple perspectives and events, to cram all that in one book while adding extra detail would probably result in a very lengthy book. So my guess is that if a 4th book is to be released, a 5th will most likely be released soon after to finish what the 4th started and bring us up to the end of Halo2 (or in my theory, parts in the end of Halo2 have actually been events of Halo3, only clever tricks in the cutscenes have hidden this, until now. For Example: the MC arriving at earth onboard the forerunner ship in the final cutscene is according to my theory the middle of Halo 3. Remember those cyrstal shards in the end of Halo: First Strike, well, the prophets still got em', and when they jump at the end of the 2nd to last level (High Charity I think it's called) in the forerunner ship, that does not mean they go DIRECTLY to earth, whether in temporal reality, or time for that matter... those shards if you remember alter gravitational influences in SlipSpace. Gravitational pull in SlipSpace results in strange, almost "time travel" events you could call it. Bungie has been messin' with our heads on this one by involving rumors of time-travel (note time-space anomalies in book 3 if you catch my drift). To see my speculation on this theory, check Halo2Boards under Halo 3 Rumors, Storyline Speculation. This thread may not be up for a few days though. Afterall, why is there not an enormous darkened patch of total destruction where New Mombasa is on earth (central east coast of Africa) in the final cutscene...lol). Anyway, I've dabbled on too long. All I can say is, I hope a 4th book comes out eventually, lol.

re: Fourth Book?

its got to, theres too many questions left unanswered, and yur right, i never thot about the crystal they found on reach, but with that your asuming that truth took it with him when he went to earth
i really hope that eric nylund writes the other books too
i hate it when one guy starts a story and another guy comes in and finishes it, all i really want to know is what the heck does dr. halsey do with kelly?
i dont remember, which spartans are still alive at the end of first strike

re: Fourth Book?

New body here. Just finished First strike....Damn. A few comments then. The book finishes with MC + spartans about 36 hrs from earth and Prophet talking with Tartarus about Elite commander (Future Arbiter). Halo 2(i think) still has the MC as the only Spartan left so dont know how book 4 could be written following 3. Re Dr Halsey and Kelly, i thought Dr H was goimg to use Flood cells to enhance Kelly, maybe she has similar condition to Sgt Johnson. Dont know why Admiral Whitcomb had to die in trap at end, surely they could have used remote comms to fool covenant. Loved the books, just a pity that MC in game is not as powerful as in books but hey ho.
Peace......Through superior firepower and enhancements....

Uh, make up your mind please? First you say that the 4th book will talk about what happens before Halo 2. Then you say it will talk about what happens in Halo 2. And in case you forgot, First Strike ends right before Halo 2 starts, and the two stories actually don't mix that well, since the game never addressed the surviving Spartans or the fact that the Covenant lost an entire fleet of ships. To me, the 3rd book was the original storyline, and Bungie changed the storyline for Halo 2 to meet deadlines...

re: Fourth Book?

As I said before, I was really sick when I first posted, I was basically out of my mind, fever and all that. Anyway what I mean is that short period between books should be addressed, if they tell the people of Earth that Reach was destroyed, or what happened to that General that tried to get Masterchief killed. Basically the small details that where left open. Then I'd like it to go into the time span of Halo 2. The book can go into both Halo 2 and the small time between.

re: Fourth Book?

i agree with mcheif0 the two stories just dont match up near the end, but it is alot better than just guessing at what the story might be

re: Fourth Book?

There's been an update for the fourth novel. Eric Nylund is in the process of making a fourth book. Bungie is working with him to create the book.

quote
On the novel front, we had our last story meeting with Eric Nylund, who will almost certainly be delivering a thrilling new Halo novel in the near to mid future. His story outline is fantastic, thrilling stuff and he's already well into the process of writing it. We are in the lucky position of seeing it grow and evolve into what I predict will be another NY Times bestseller.
