Following the success of Dragon Quest VIII on both sides of the Pacific, Square Enix has announced a prequel that will focus on the younger days of Yangus, the reformed bandit and sidekick of Dragon Quest VIII's hero. Entitled Dragon Quest Yangus, the PlayStation 2 game is similar in style to Dragon Quest VIII, as seen in these
magazine scans.
A Japanese release date has not been announced, but Square Enix will be showing off Dragon Quest Yangus at Jump Festa this weekend. More details are sure to come, so keep watching RPGamer.

Propaganda found in the pages of Shonen Jump offers a new glimpse into the world of Dragon Quest Yangus, Square-Enix's upcoming prequel to the popular Dragon Quest VIII.
Focusing on the childhood of Yangus, the sidekick of Dragon Quest VIII's hero, the story begins when Yangus finds himself mysteriously transported to a strange, new world. And so, he begins his adventures through the Mysterious Dungeons.
Dragon Quest Yangus will feature randomly generated dungeons to explore, like other games in the "Mysterious Dungeon" series. While this feature isn't a new concept, Dragon Quest Yangus takes it one step further, as all dungeons will re-generate every time a player leaves and re-enters them. Should players find a need to head back to town to restock supplies, they should expect to find a totally new dungeon awaiting them upon their return.
A release date for Dragon Quest Yangus has not yet been announced, nor has a North American translation been discussed at this time.
Just checked some more sources and got a lot of good info, enough for a forum. Also there is a Trailer but it's on the Japanese website, so I'll have to translate it for you guys to see it.
First go to the site
HereNext click Enter to enter (duh). After that you'll be taken to the main page, to the left you'll see a totem poll with options. The First Option is the main page your looking at, the second is blank and the third is where the movie is "Muubii" in Nihongo (Japanese). Click on it, then click on the only movie available. A subscreen will show and two options, click the first one to play it, the second to leave.
If your curious there are screenshots on the last available option (not the last option down but the last one you can click, the rest will be ???????).
The trailer is okay, kinda funny if you speak Japanese though I didn't understand it all.
