you know this is true. PS3 and 360 basically have the same games, 360 having a much larger library as its been out longer. for an exception of a couple PS3 and 360 exclusives, they are really the same console ( besides the PS3 having 7 more cells than the 360)
I own both Wii and PS3, i`m getting a 360 as soon as i can get the money, so i consider myself equally based.
Those who have a Wii know the huge Wii titles that are comingt this (half) of 08 and know it will rack in a crap load of sales.
PS3, i`m only aware of GT5, Haze, and Metal Gear Solid 4. i`m not buying any of these because $60 for a(some) game(s) that don`t have online won`t be worth it. i know i can always enjoy an offline and online Wii gam, but PS3 games offline (the ones i`ve played) aren`t good.
my friends are saying "haze and metal gear will be the best games ever created, brawl...pshh, i`ll play it for 5 mins and throw it away"
i have a serious questio, whats the big deal about haze? just people doing drugs..wtf? i`m sure a shit load of angry soccer moms will try to get that game banned, i thought doing drugs was bad? and metal gear solid's trailer looks epic...but no online, so i`ll rent it, beat it in a day, or borrow it from my friend.
and lip, how about you play SUPER SMASH BROS BRAWL before you say a console is shite. thats why you need to play a game before you judge it by what other fanboys ( of the opposite console ) say. just because it doesn`t have graphics on a playstation standard, the game isn`t bad. play GALAXY, Twilight Princess, Metroid Prime 3, Brawl and Mario Kart Wii before you shite talk wii.

The only games riding for the Wii are their old franchises which are getting very old and that's why I think that the PS3 is better. That's my opinion.

Thats the type of PS3 related post that I can handle. As long as you understand that as an opinion and not a fact, I don't consider it fanboy behavior.

And paper mario dude, I understand you want to defend the wii but everyone is entitled to their own opinion. You make the Ps3 sound like shit and frankly, few people on this forum will agree with you on "MGS4 isn't that great". No console is better. You could improve that picture by making each bubble equaly balanced by understanding the genre of each console. lip has every right to prefer the PS3 over the Wii as long as he understands that this means hes accepting RPGS and Shooters over Motion Sensing and Adventure. And again, the Ps3 hasn't released its 1st party games, so it wont be sharing the same library with microsoft for long. Haze isn't out yet so for all we know it could be Sony's version of Gears of War or bioshock. As for MGS4, the chances of it sucking are a mere 5%, mostly because it has such a large fanbase.

You know, I find it funny Wii fanboys complaining about the PS3 library when the Wii's library sucks too. All I hear about lately is Brawl. "Wait til Brawl comes out" "Brawl is going to kick ass" Blah blah blah. The Wii has had maybe 5 huge games. And between those games all I hear about is how many Wii owners get bored with the system and it gathers dust for 2 or 3 months until the next big game comes out.

Not that I have anything against the Wii. I would buy one if Nintendo wasn't artificially inflating demand by only releasing 1 million units a month. Sure the demand is there. But I don't think it would be selling quite as well if they actually tried to meet demand rather than releasing them slowly so people have to hunt and search and wait. Now it is just getting silly and I don't care any more. That and again the constant stories of "I haven't touched my Wii in a month"(no pun) not particularly inspiring.

Now admittedly I have had the PS3 for about 12 months now. And I have only purchased 14 games for it. 2 of which I sold. So it isn't as if there is a huge selection on the PS3 either. Though there are at least 3 other games that I should probably buy but haven't. And if I had any interest in FPS I could double that or even triple it. So maybe 20 games on the system worth buying. And the Wii might have 15 or 20 as well. But you're not going to win this by attacking either systems library. Because they both suck equally.

Library doesn't matter as long as you have games to suit the type of gamer that each console is selling to. I don't care much for "I havn't touched my Wii in so long" stories because when I hear them, its usually from a fanboy or just someone who doesn't prefer the Wiis gaming style. Obviously a lot of people do considering the fact that its selling so much, but there are always those who prefer shooters and online which is fine. I prefer the Wii and no shooter is going to suddenly change that.

But the game library sucks no matter what, this kid has a Wii, he had games and he only played them for a day and he loves his Wii but none of his games or any games have any quality to him or his family.

This is true. But you're sort of contradicting yourself there. The library is important because you could have a console full of FPS and they could all be bland and boring and even if you like FPS you're not going to enjoy it.

That is why the best suggestion as to how to approach the decision is to look at the current library. Then look at what is coming down the pipe. Decide what sounds good to you. Then figure out which console has more games that sound interesting to you currently out and coming out and buy that one. That's the only way you're going to be happy.

Control scheme and game style isn't at all important if in your opinion the games suck. It could have the coolest most realistic virtual reality controls ever created. And it could be filled to the brim with your favorite genre. But who cares if the games are bland and boring. Frankly if the N64 hadn't bored me to death I never would have bought a PS1. If I didn't keep seeing interesting titles on the 360 I would never even consider buying one. If I didn't like several of the titles out or coming out on the PS3 I never would have bought one.

There is nothing, absolutely nothing more important than the game library when buying a console. I sure as hell won't buy the Wii for Ray-man Raving Rabbits or the 1000 other party game titles on the console. But I might buy it for the 5 good games that get mentioned over and over.

I'm not sure what you mean by "the game library sucks no matter what". The Wii might have a lot of shit, but as long as it has great titles coming out it hardly matters. Just don't buy the shit. What matters about a library isn't how many shitty games compared to good games, its just does the library offer great games to those who buy it? The Wii succeeds in doing this and therefore is a great choice for those who prefer platforming or adventure based games. So the Wiis library certainly doesn't suck. And theres no certainty that this kid even prefers the Wiis genre nor are you sure that he bought the best games for the Wii. Like Koloth said, if he bought Rayman Raving Rabits then what the *bleep* he will be bored for sure. If he bought Mario Galaxy or Legend of Zelda, he will be busy for a while unless he hates platforming or adventure. If thats the case I'm not sure he should have bought the Wii in the first place.

Besides, like Akeem said, its too early to decide which library sucks or which is better. The Ps3 is soon to release its 1st party titles and the Wii is soon to release Brawl and Mario Kart wii. Also a few more sequels are coming back to nintendo. Such as starfox and pit icarus The 360 seems about done with its first party titles (gears of war 2 aside) but more third party are to come.

It only seems fair if we compare librarys a few years from now. But as I said before, the Library can not change the genre of a console. That usually sticks.

P.S: I couldn't agree more, Koloth. Party titles suck, for the most part.

Your right, I didn't. This isn't about judging that kid, this is about the Wii/Ps3. You weren't talking about "what should I do about this kid" and I wasn't talking about "you should tell the kid..." so therefore I didn't tell you anything involving judging anyone. I simply assumed that your not sure what games he owns, considering the fact that you didn't include any titles in your post. If he does, my mistake, but I still never told you how to judge anyone.

wow, are you serious? people LOVE the old franchises. someone else on neo said this but i`ll resay it. "if you shout out MARIO in your classroom or some random place, most likley everyone will know what your talking about, but if you say SOLID SNAKE or MASTER CHIEF, most people won`t know what the hell your talking about"
you can`t all of a sudden create a brand new franchise and expect it to be big. and METAL GEAR, remember, it started on NINTENDO. HAZE is a brand new game, hardly anyone knows about it except the few fanboys. Sony or whoever is producing HAZE isn`t showing it off in any way. everywhere i look, in every store, every other window is plastered with a poster saying "PRE-ORDER SUPER SMASH BROTHERS BRAWL NOW! TOURNAMENT BEING HELD MIDNIGHT MARCH 8th"
you can`t say that nintendo only has a few "good" titles coming this half of the year because you have a few too. GT5,HAZE and MGS4. every sony fanboy i talk to always says "oh, just wait for MGS4 or HAZE" so don`t put that bullshit on me wesk.
back to the classic games. Kids inherit their ability to belive what their parents think ( like political views, a democratic parent will usually have a kid that believes what their parents think ) so parents grew up with atari, Nintendo and SEGA, mario, sonic, metroid zelda, etc..
those games will stay classic and great games....except mabey sonic.. and just because a game like mario kart uses the motion sensing doesn`t mean its gimmickey...i mean, wtf? Motorstorm and GT5 use the same gyrometre style gaming as the Wii does with its racing games. New franchises can only last so long now-a-days. Call of Duty was okay at first but the 3rd one was horrible IMO. they lucked out with Call of Duty 4 making it modern but CoD5 may screw it over again putting it back in WWII times >.<
