Neither am I. Although it doesn't take an expert to spot good advice. I haven't looked at the threads yet but I'll get to it when I get home from work in 2 hours.

1. Make sure the first post is organized.

2. It can only be about the smaller things that don't really require their own thread. Things like Video settings, how to change the themes/wallpaper, how to create playlists and small stuff like that. You know that kind of things we mean.

How would you guys feel about a General Discussion thread in this forum? It's an idea that I'm just throwing out there to see if it's wanted or not. It might help with the general community awareness and it might bring us all a bit closer together. I'll discuss it with Koloth when he comes online.

Well a high PPD isn't the only goal in a forum. A strong community is important too and from what I've seen in the GTA forums an active GD thread greatly improves the forums appeal.

Yeah I know we have a very strong community. What I mean is a GD thread makes a forum seem more inviting to newcomers I think.

Well I have Sky+ so there wouldn't be much point in me getting PlayTV then. Sky+ does everything PlayTV can do only better.

You can still copy stuff from Sky+ too though. Although you need either a DVD Recorder or VCR to do so.

Yes the whim of the mod indeed.

Chiro the reason I closed it is because there are literally thousands of PS2 games that are not coming to PS3. If we allowed such threads the forum would dominate with threads asking to bring a certain title to PS3. The odd exception is made for popular games such as FF but we can't have a thread for every average game that people remember fondly and want it to come to PS3.
A compromise could be to have just 1 thread where people can discuss games they want remade for PS3. You can then discuss Smugglers Run all you want.


Final Blade it was made in Photoshop by me although the Trophy image was taken from PS3trophies.co.uk (with their permission).

It does take some getting used to Jack. I'm still adjusting to it.

Oooh yes please. It's obvious that not everyone is gonna like the black skin. A drop down menu with the default skin, Bradens, LPFs, yours and perhaps even the old blue skin should please everyone.

Like Koloth said you DID win so of course your skin will be the default skin that everyone sees when they first enter the forum. The dropdown menu will just give them the option to change the skin if they want. That way everyone's happy.

I like the Uncharted one. Probably because I love Uncharted and I've got a bad feeling about Infamous. Just don't think it's gonna be all that.
Either way it definitely needs to be all exclusives and new-ish. Killzone should certainly be in there. Not too sure about PSN games though. Retail exclusives are better.

Well I created a Trophy Challenge thread a while ago but I'm ashamed to admit that I simply couldn't keep it going. Checking everyone's Trophies, writting them down, comparing them, calculating score etc etc proved too much for me so I let the thread drift away in the hope people would forget about it.

We do already have a Trophy thread Here but it's more about discussing Trophies. I don't think we have a Trophy Comparison thread yet so yeah ok. You can create the thread if you want.

I fail to see how its derailing the topic FB. The topic is about FF7 coming to PSN. It's only natural that people will start comparing the game to other RPGs and start reminiscing over past RPGs. What you're complaining about is a harmless debate between members. As long as it doesn't escalate into spam or flamming I see no harm. If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen.

Seems to be a bug with the forums HTML though. No matter what I do I can't get rid of the div> tag on the header. Everytime I remove it from the HTML it reappears when I go back to the forum.

The GamesCon thread is a thread about GamesCon. GamesCon might not be as big as E3 but it definitely deserves it's own thread. It just so happens the PS3 Slim is the biggest news to come out of GamesCon so it's inevitable it'll be a big topic within the thread.
Also both threads are part of the forums history. In a few months time someone might want to look back at the PS3 Slim thread to witness the hype when it was first released. Likewise someone might want to look back at the GamesCon thread to see what was announced.
When the Slim is released on September 1st we can use the Slim thread instead of cluttering up the GamesCon thread.

Which reminds me, we should add both threads to the index.

I completely disagree with that. This forum has loads of Gen Game Discussion threads. Just check the thread index and you'll see many threads discussing a certain game. All the big releases have had an active thread here in and around the time of the games release. However as soon as the game is released the thread dies out because the games main forum is then alive and kicking. Why should Uncharted 2 be the exception just because it falls under your section? That Uncharted 2 thread would've died over the next 2 weeks once the game is released and it would've become part of this forums history just like the MGS4 thread, GTA4 thread and all the other big games that now have a thriving forum.
In fact I'd even go as far to say that those big game forums might not have become as active as they are today if they didn't have their own thread here first.

This is exactly why I put the Uncharted 2 Forum in the header of that thread to help gain the Uncharted 2 Forum more popularity. But obviously that wasn't enough for you. That TLA thread springs to mind now.

ALL of the gen game threads in the index are dead. Why? Because their forums are active so there's no point in keeping them alive here (well either that or the game just sucks). The same would've happened with the Uncharted 2 thread.

The forum gains activity because it forces people to post there instead.

No need to to get so personal FB. Mods are human too and everyone makes mistakes. Although I'm not saying Red made a mistake because afterall he is the mod here. Maybe I'm in the wrong and moving the thread was in fact the right thing to do.

I rarely posted in that thread anyway because I want to keep Uncharted 2 a surprise and spoiler free for myself. The absence of the Uncharted 2 thread won't really effect me but there was a healthy discussion going on in there and it feels a shame to let it go to waste. To me it's more about the principle of losing Gen Game threads rather then losing this particular thread.

It was still unnessasary to move it. The Uncharted 2 forum is hardly dying or in dire straits. 38PPD is very good for a game that hasn't even been released yet. In 7 days the game will be released and the forum will be buzzing. Removing a part of this forums history just to increase the PPD for a week is stupid and unnessasary.
