I'm just waiting for gametrailers to say it's just as good as the 360 version with extras, and then give it a 8.2

Lol no kidding. Reviewers have become more biased than ever these last few years.

Yes there is, Why waste the money on it if its not worth it, He could spend the hard earned cash on something else like Resistance 2, Gow2 or farcry etc.

Exclusive features in Bioshock

quote Subzer0
I've been in a dilemma. I've been wanting to play Bioshock for a while but don't know which console to get it for. I'll probably wait for the reviews as well. Hopefully the PS3's version has decent extras.
Well if you haven't played the game before (i assume) then why go for the one with lesser features?

re: Exclusive features in Bioshock

If you see two games that are likely identical in terms of graphics and funcionality, it's obvious you should go for the one with more features. Even if those extras aren't all that amazing, you still have them.

re: Exclusive features in Bioshock

Not necessarily. I mean, you can get Bioshock on 360 for half the price the PS3 one is going to be. The question is whether the game with the new features is worth double the price. Of course, the fact he has a 360 and a PS3 dictates price isn't too much of a factor, but still. Plus if someone would want achievements more then trophies they'll opt for the 360 version, so it's all about weighing the options of what you personally want and are willing to pay for the new content.

Well I played the demo and liked it. If the PS3 has useless addition that I know I won't bother with, then I might end up getting the 360 version. Plus the 360 version might be half the price.

re: Exclusive features in Bioshock

Well... The features on the PS3 version aren't exactly useless... I mean Trophies speaks for itself, but, I already know a big twist in the storyline for this game from playing the 360 version at a mates. It was kinda obvious, but it still looks a great game, and it comes out on my birthday so I'm planning on getting it...

I know almost nothing about Bioshock actually. I know it's a FPS but does it also have some sort of RPG element to it as that's how it comes across to me?
Yes it does. As for the exclusives, not much is known other then the stuff most of us have heard. And according to a gamegrep article one of the people who hand a hands on about the game says the controls feels better on the PS3 and the dualshock addition felt great, but they were left hanging for more then that. Im not sure if it was a demo or they did play the full game, either way it doesn't sound good atm.

Your an idiot Finalblade. It said what they saw was promising and they left wanting a lot more. It means they couldn't wait to get their hands on it.

And Bioshock without rumble wouldn't be anywhere near as atmospheric as with rumble.

Also @ BigBhaarlokzMon, you do realise the 360 version has achievements, right?

Well seeing as it has quite a few new features I would atleast rent it if you played the 360 version already and you want to save money up for other games.

re: Exclusive features in Bioshock

Found this: http://www.videogamer.com/news/28-08-2008-9182.html

quote
2K Games has denied the exclusive content developed for the PS3 version of BioShock will be made available for the Xbox 360.

The PS3 exclusive DLC, called Challenge Rooms, will be made available after the launch of the game on October 24, and will supplement a new survivor difficulty mode and exclusive Trophy support.

During Leipzig Games Convention last week we caught up with 2K Games senior producer Melissa Miller and asked her if the exclusive content will also come out on 360.

She said: "Right now we are supporting the PS3 launch. We are really excited to be bringing the BioShock experience to a whole new set of fans. We've been concentrating on ways to make this game special. The things that we've added, they're not changing the original experience that the 360 fans and the PC fans got, but are things that compliment nicely that experience."

When asked if that answer meant no, Miller replied: "The answer is no. Right now this is a PS3 exclusive."

During Leipzig, Miller demoed only one of the exclusive Challenge rooms, called Shocking Turn of Events, which charges players with rescuing a Little Sister from a malfunctioning Ferris Wheel using limited tools made available to them.

While Miller couldn't reveal any information about any of the other Challenge Rooms, or indeed any of the PS3 exclusive add-on content, she did have this message for PS3-owners: "I think you'll be happy, I can tell you that much!"

With the game due out late October, we suspect we'll find out sooner rather than later what 2K Games has up its sleeve.
Doesnt mention a whole lot but it outlines one of the challenge rooms which are gonna be added as exclusive content for the PS3 version but other than that a whole lot else isnt known. Home support has also been rumoured before as well.

Perhaps he is referring to how the trophies will have full home intergration which achievements can't do

re: Exclusive features in Bioshock

As well as added features such as the Challenge Room and the DLC of the XBOX360, it will also have upped graphics, which if your into, you may enjoy.

If you enjoyed the game on the XBOX360 and you want a reason to get the game, and the addition of the above doesn't do it, then I'm afraid there is nothing else that the game will have that may make you want to buy the PS3 version. If you have the bucks to spare you might as well buy it, but if you don't you might as well not worry about it.

If you have both consoles, then in this case the PS3 version is the one to get. Why? Because it has more content, and all the DLC of the XBOX360 version which makes it the better option. The upped graphics also make it worth it (for again, those that care about that).

Price wise, you should be able to get the game for around £30 on the PS3 where as the XBOX360 version is £15. However if you want the DLC, that should cost around £5-£10 (not too sure about XBOX360 pricing, or the number of DLC it has). So essentially your saving around £5-£10 on the XBOX360 version. What you should make your decision on is whether your a fan of Trophies or Achievements. If both, then... well, it's up to you... does the addition of the Challenge Rooms make it worth £5-£10 for you? If it does, then get the PS3 version, otherwise you might as well stick to the XBOX360 version.

For the US prices, roughly double the numbers above...
