BioShock Framerate? |
|
I have recently acquired BioShock on the PlayStation 3 and it was all running fine for 3 hours until i hit a battle with Big Daddy, the frame rate dipped so low for about 30 seconds that i couldn't move whatsoever. I know it isn't my console as this hasn't happened in any other games at all, i was wondering if anyone else has encountered such an issue.
So far it hasn't happened again though i have turned on the maximise frame rate option to limit it happening. It just has me concerned as i expect this kind of thing to happen in a PC game but not on a console game that has been optimised. PS. I have also posted this in the BioShock forum but considering it hasn't had a post in weeks, i am trying to maximise the effectiveness of getting an answer from the community. ------------------- ![]()

Think it might have happened to me once, but it was fine for the rest of my 2 play throughs.

Meh, framerates occasionally drop in console video games too, especially with a lot happening on the screen at once. I remember this beng common enough on the 360 in any case (less so on the PS3).
BTW: There is a 'maximum framerate' option on the PS3 version 0_o I would assume that it turns off some effects to get that framerate boost then? -------------------

yea, but it says it might take the quality of some areas in the game down.
i noticed this alot throughout fort frolic. it didnt really bother me because it was my first time playing it and i was in awe of everthing.... of course, i wouldn't have gotten anywhere had i not seen my friend play through the first quarter or so of the game on the 360 ------------------- ![]()

Ah thank you for the replies, it was just a concern cause in this battle it was just me and a Big Daddy there was nothing else on screen. I think i will just put it down to data being streamed wrong, anything to stop me thinking "My PS3 is broken!" haha. Oh and tallteen, yeah the maximise framerate option turns off v-sync unlocking the game to 60FPS and higher, while the graphics don't get worse and the effects are still all there i will assume that it was locked to start with as later on screen tearing may be an issue when there is lots happening.
Thank you for the replies, it has put my mind at rest for now unless it happens again or if it happens in another game. ------------------- ![]()
