how do PS3 games look on a SDTV (non-HD normal standard TV)? |
|
if its anything as good as, say, resident evil 4 or the god of war series then i'll be happy. i ain't too picky when it comes to graphics, just so its good enough.
but on ps3 games, considering its designed for HD, but the console has scart capability, i like to know how do ps3 games look on a SDTV? don't have enough money for a HD, we will be getting one in the future, but am eager to play ps3, just like to know whether there'd be any hardware of graphic complications when playing on a normal TV, anyone...? thanks

Looks fine, I went from SD to HD not to long ago. 0 problems.

It'll look great it'll just look crisper on a HDTV, just because you are on SDTV doesn't make the graphics worse, the graphics are the same on all TV's the difference is in the crispness of the image. I'll tell you now PS3 graphics are so much better than Resident Evil 4 or God of War even on an SDTV/HDTV.

I have never connected my PS3 to a SDTV but I did my XBox 360 and the picture was noticeably worse. Blurry and not crisp.

My advice is don't hook your PS3 up to a HD TV and you'll never know the difference. I own an Xbox 360 and I used to have a SD-TV that I played Gears of War on. To me it looked mind blowing, the best graphics I had ever seen. I was hapy as larry and my experience was complete.
Then, I took it to my brothers place and played on his stupidly big HD TV and I realized what I was missing out on. I couldn't believe how good it looked. It was hard going back to my SD-TV but it was fine. It's just in the back of my mind I was always think about getting a HD-TV. So, just play in SD and you'll be none the wiser. ------------------- Watch Milkenobi on youtube \ ]

what ive noticed is that you dont realise how good HD is until you go back to a SDTV.

quote Nihilanth1982Look, I am not going to lie, the PS3 games look absolutely amazing on a good HDTV, a lot better than SD. The thing is, though, that they still look pretty amazing on regular SD as well. I have played both the PS3 on SD and HD TV sets and they look beautiful on both television types. ------------------- ![]() It's official. I have truly become a babysitter on Neo. Buddy, your TV can't be worse than mine, honestly, it's a SD, 31cm thing.
It still looks amazing. As said above, the only difference is that the picture is more blurred on a SD and crisper on a HD. ------------------- ![]() Jak and Daxter IV: The Lost Frontier GreaterAjax :PSN-XBL: DynamicAjax

To repeat what everyone has said, the only difference you'll see is that the image is more sharp and (to me) is brighter. I played on a SDTV for year and a couple of months and I thought the graphics were simply amazing. Once I hooked it up to my HD Monitor that I got for Christmas I realized what I was missing out on. So basically, you won't know the difference unless you actually experience both qualities.

HD is a lot more clear, and I definitely agree that its brighter(you can make it darker too). It's crisp and just overall better looking. But as I and others have said, SD is fine, HD is just better.

What Milkenobi said is spot on. I've never experienced a PS3 game on HD either but to me the graphics on my normal SD TV are breathtaking at times. I know it would all look better in HD but as long as I don't experience it I won't know what I'm missing. So I'm happy.

quote MilkenobiThat's crap advice. That's like saying "don't buy a PS3 and you'll still love your PS2". Playing your PS3 in HD will improve your experience to no end, so much so that I'd recommend getting it over games at first. When I go to friends house and play his PS3 on his SDTV, I can't handle how poor it looks in comparison. I can see what you mean in the respect that 'you don't know what you're missing so it's fine' but that's such a negative attitude to have. You should be looking to improve your experience where possible to get the most out of playing games. Pat, I seriously think you should invest in a HDTV. No matter how good you think your SDTV looks, certain games just look ten times better in HD.

re: how do PS3 games look on a SDTV (non-HD normal standard TV)? |

It's as simple as this:
When you play a game on a SD TV it looks good, as long as you haven't seen the game on a HDTV. Once you see something on a HDTV you wont ever want to go back to SDTV (trust me, I know from experience). quote BerginActually that's sound advice as far as I see it. When I had my PS3 hooked up to a SDTV, it was good, I was liking the quality, then I attached it to my 46" HD, and suddenly I hated it when I had to reconnect to my SDTV. That bit of advice is nothing like saying not to get a PS3 and that you'll love your PS2. ------------------- ![]()

re: how do PS3 games look on a SDTV (non-HD normal standard TV)? |
quote KrunalExactly what i was just about to say. When i first got my PS3 i hooked it up to my SDTV and i was fairly impressed. Not long after, my brother bought himself a 26" HDTV and so i put the PS3 on that then. I was totally blown away. I never put my PS3 on the SDTV again. Since then, i've been up to my mate's house once or twice and he's got his PS3 system on the exact same SDTV as i used to have, and i was really, really shocked. I couldn't believe how rubbish it looked after playing it in HD. It actually started to hurt my eyes. ------------------- ![]() ~ Fit to Burn ~

re: how do PS3 games look on a SDTV (non-HD normal standard TV)? |
quote KrunalYes it is. It's like saying 'if you don't experience better, you wont want better'. By that logic, as long as I don't ever play a PS3, the PS2 will be the best thing I've played and therefore I'll be happy with it. That might be true, but that's hardly a good attitude to have. Your interests should be expanded, not halted.
