I fell asleep with my PS3 turned on in a DVD menu. It was on for about 7 hours. I woke up and turned it off as quickly as possible. I know when I played my 360 like that, everyone told me it would RRoD.
So do you think that would've harmed my PS3? I fiddled around in the XMB and it was fine.. ------------------- Add for Pokemon Platinum and Mario Kart DS! | |

No, the PlayStation 3 was extensively tested when it was released by many organisations. Many of these organisations crash tested it in scenarios such as room temperature, intense heat and intense cold. At room temperature they kept the PlayStation on for 84 hours before ending the experiment as nothing bad happened, they then tested it in a sauna with a temperature of about 80 - 90 degree's celcius. The console ran for about 48 hours solid before running into a handful of problems, they then tested it in a freezer unit that gradually got colder. The PlayStation 3 for the most part liked the cold and ran for about 70 hours before the cold started to lock up internal components, so that said the PlayStation 3 was built to last even under intense climate conditions. So unless your room is 80 degree's celcius which is about 176 degrees fahrenheit then your PS3 should in theory last turned on for months without issue.

My 60GB PS3 has been on for weeks before and it's faring exceptionally well.

Yeah, take everyone elses advice, the PS3 is near impossible to crash. Although their are a few kinks every now and then, but other then that it's great. Not like that old 33% failure rate on the 360. Now that was sad.
