Tbh I REALLY hope this rumour is false. It wouldn't be fair. People that can't afford to buy a game every week or people that don't have the time to play games 8 hours a day due to school/work/family/etc would be missing out while those that do have the time and money would be getting a free PSN every other week... which in turn increases their trophy tally even more.

I do however agree that there should be some sort of incentive to collect trophies aside from bragging rights but ONLY if it's something cosmetic such as a special Avatar if you get Platinum in a game.
Simple idea would be to make the Platinum Trophy icon available to use as an avatar once you unlock the Platinum. Would love to use that LBP Platinum icon as an avatar.

It wouldn't work with so many cheap asses renting games, they are basically getting rewarded for not paying Sony money for their software. A futile system.

Cheap asses renting games? Dude, there are games that outright suck ass. I would lose my mind and my income if I spent 60 bucks on every game I was interested in playing and found out it was crap. Renting is the way to go, try before you buy.

I like the idea, but it needs a LOT of work in order to be successful.

Stupid idea, it should unlock stuff for home, that way more people use home which equals into more people viewing advertisement's, which equals in more games to unlock more trophies. Quite simple.

I think it should work like this:

You all remember how the PS2 games had skill points in each game to unlock extras? I think the trophy system should work just like that. Say you get 50% of trophies on a game. You should get a couple extras for that game, like "Behind the scenes of making the game", extra Skins for your character, and Art sketches and maybe new paint jobs for your guns or cars or whatever. Well, thats just how i think it should be. Considering right now Trophy's are pointless except for bragging rights.

Why is it unfair? I thought it was a good idea, tbh. I mean, if the only way to get the items is to get the trophies, then yeah, it's a bad idea. But those people who put effort in gaming by getting trophies could do with some rewards.

If those very same rewards can be bought however, it would definitely cheapen the value of those items, not to mention be open for a hell of a lot of abuse of the system, and Sony would lose money since people are essentially getting stuff for free they would normally have had to buy.

What ever happened to being able to display your trophies in your PS3 Home? Has that been scrapped?
