What's to blame? |
|
Okay so my 60Gb PS3 refuses to play PS3 games, it sometimes reads them but won't go to the game's menu screen, we've tried multiple games and still nothing. My parents think it was Call Of Duty 4 but I think it's the fact my little brother would play Little Big Planet basically everyday all day. What's to blame.
P.S. it still plays PS2 and PS1 games without fault -------------------

No game is to blame. Its just a faulty drive.

Was the area clean ? Sure someone just didnt drop it or something or kick it ????
Could be alot of things more than likely though its the drive.

Is there anyway I could have this fixed without paying money for it because my mum is arrogant and won't let me pay for it. And is there anyway that I could fix it myself with an online guide perhaps?
And no I didn't drop/kick/spill anything on the PS3 it just gave up due to overheating/virus/fault -------------------

You could try just returning it if you have a warranty.
Most people advise against this but it works from time to time. If you just act like you don't know what has happened and you find the right employee who dosen't really know alot about them you can get it replaced for free. -------------------

re: What's to blame? |
quote ShinobiDyne.....It's a 60GB....I don't think it was purchased recently ~_~ Ummmm, see if you have the warranty to get it repaired still (I think since it is a 60GB, it is probably long since expired, unless you purchased extra warranty from the retailer). Otherwise, you'll have to pay to get it fixed, of course. As to what is at fault? It COULD be CoD4....I heard of some sort of glitch where if you exited at some point (where something was loading or something) it would render the Blu Ray Diode useless or something, so not just games, but BD movies wouldn't work either. -------------------

Had the exact problem. And yeah the only way to fix is to give to sony and let them fix it. LOL I remember they made us wait for so long because they didn't pick it up for 2weeks that my brother started complaining and he said "We better get free a game mate, this is really unprofesional" lol and he made us pick one. hahaha

Ah that happened with my first 60g. Old games worked fine, but it refused to start up ps3 games. I was forced to exchange it for another 60g another Gamestop miraculously had.
It was quite annoying -------------------

It sounds as though you have 2 choices... send it to Sony, or send it to a third party repair center. My 60gig PS3 has an extended warranty. It gets sent to a place here in the states under warranty, but anyone can send one in to be repaired for a fee. It is much cheaper than Sony's cost. The web site is http://www.psr1.com/ps3_repair.html I am sure there are others too.
