What are the consequences of deleting Game data, as opposed to Save Data? are those just the settings for a game or....

Yeah it's updates, DLC, and I believe user settings for the game.

Yeah one thing to watch out for is if you delete game data regularly for the same game to free up space and you have bought DLC for that game you will lose it, and you'll only be able to redownload that DLC five times for free before you have to buy it again so that deletion to free up space might be an expensive one eventually.

that's a bummer, I don need to free up space, but I don't feel like taking the risk of losing my DLC. I suppose I could delete the games that I don't play much, and have no DLC downloaded for them. Even if so, I might just end up buying a portable HD for my PS3. Thanks for the info guys, do you have any recommendations for a portable HD by any chance?

I went and deleted most of mine before I knew this, so I'll need to re-download some DLC if I decide to play again >>

To add, especially for BlazinFaze's sake, if you get a 'portable harddrive' and by that I assume you mean external one, you cannot use it for anything other than Movies, Videos & Pictures. So be warned that it's pretty much useless for you to get it if you were hoping to save game data on it. Instead what you need to do is buy a larger Internal Harddrive. You may lose everything on your harddrive currently that you can't back (i.e. Game Data unless you have a large enough hardrive to copy the data onto), but at the same time, the extra space is always more than welcome. I have a 250GB with around 20GB being used by Videos, I still have 100GB remaining and I do have quite a lot of games on my system...
