I've experimented with the Wiimote, connecting it to a PC via bluetooth. This was neat, but impractical, as everything you can achieve with the Wiimote, you can do with the Mouse 10 times as easily and accurately.
So, I'm wondering how the PS3's eye and 'ps3mote' communicate with the PS3, if wirelessly or by cord, and if by cord, by USB? Wirelessly by bluetooth? | |

You can use the Dualshock 3 on your PC but you have to download a driver and you have to use it corded.

I'm pretty sure that you can, I found one that works for the PS2 to PC off Amazon so I'm sure if you looked for one for the PS3 you could find an adapter that would work with them and for the regular PS3 controllers I'm sure it'd work without a problem.
The one I bought is right here, it says PS2/PSX/PS1 though so I kinda doubt it'd work for you but no doubt there's something similar if you look for it. ------------------- | |

I already have a wireless PC gamepad, but thanks. I'm talking specifically about the PS3 motion controller and camera.
I found this http://alexpopovich.wordpress.com/2008/10/02/sony-ps3eye-camera-directshow-capture-source-filter/ which is a driver to connect the PlayStation Eye to the PC. Wikipedia also claims that the Motion Controller does communicate via bluetooth, so only time will tell if it will be as simple of a process as the wiimote was. | |

Nagare, i'm pretty sure Sony would know. And considering PS Eye can, it only makes sense for Sony Wand to as well. It's using the basic functionality of PS Eye that was release for PS3 a year or 2 ago.

Nagare, I was about to post the exact same message that you posted.. it's not out so there's no way to tell if it's possible. But the fact that all games are made on a computer means there is a way, it's just a matter of whether or not the way will be released or not...  -------------------  | |

You'll need more than a driver thats all I know! The motion technology needs to be applied to a PC doesn't it?

No. The PS3 or the PC don't have 'motion technology'. It's all in the remote. All it needs to do is communicate with the system. The software/drivers will translate that information into commands that mimic the motion of the controller. ie, the PS3/PC have no idea what you're actually doing. They're just doing what they're told.
