Buying a PS3 and have a question |
|
So this isn't one of those "Give me some games i can buy!" caus tbh, i already have an extensive list of games i'll be grabbing as soon as i get the PS3 but i just have one question.
I'm on a tight budget so was thinking of buying a Pre-owned PS3, now i was wondering, can i trust buying a pre-owned PS3? It is a 80gig model if that helps, now i know the PS3 doesn't have such a big problem as the 360 has, hence why i'll never buy a 360 pre-owned, but was wondering if a pre-owned PS3 is a safe buy. Thanks in advance. ------------------- ![]() ![]() FFF <3's Sazzii

Well i suppose as with anything preowned that you buy it has to work fine, But it depends where your getting from, if you know the person or even if its ebay, ask them if they looked after it, ask how long they had and if they ever had any problems with it. I doubt they'd lie to you about it because its against the law under 'False Advertising'. But you should definetly interrogate them about it.
If your getting it from a games shop then i know for a fact that the test them first, and get the details of the person who is trading it in. And if it works fine there but not at home im prettys sure they'll refund it. ------------------- ![]()

^I second the above. He really pretty much covered it all.
You might also want to ask about the smell, my PS2 (yes, 2), unfortunately had a previous owner who smoked, it took a while to get rid of the smell. I also read about a person who sold a 360 (that worked fine) that smelled of piss....Because it was pissed on (and in) >_> Still though, in a game shop, there is a guarantee that it'll work, and online, well, check and make sure everything is good before you buy it, yeah. Check the return policy too. -------------------

Really depends where you get it from, ask whoever the need to know type questions b4 you buy and you shouldn't be disappointed.
Keep in mind tho its an electronic and will break eventually no matter how good you or the previous owner cared for it. Just a reminder lol. btw bought a used slim ps2 a few yrs back and still no problems, just depends where you buy from. ------------------- Steeler Football, we got 6 NFL championships now rest of NFL bow down. If you're buying a relatively expensive console pre-owned, I would recommend always getting it from a gaming retailer.
I know that GAME do a 6 month return if the console develops a fault in that time, and Gamestop have a full one-year warranty, which is incredible as that's the same as a brand new console. So yeah, my advice is don't buy online, but go to a high-street retailer and check their return policy. ------------------- ![]() EXCLUSIVELY on Playstation 3!

I'm buying it from Cash Generator it's a UK based shop which sells loads of different pre-owned items which isn't just limited to consoles and console games, but like you all said, they must have tested it first because they wouldn't want a fault PS3.

quote Shinobi_razorLMAO, glad i wasn't the only 1 to think that particular post a bit odd. Never bought anything used smelling like those 2 particular smells, atleast in all my days of gaming. Oh and wouldn't pissing on any console would be pretty much considered "submerging/getting wet a electronic" idk for sure as ive never did it personally, LOL. personally im wondering how the hell it still worked fine? ------------------- Steeler Football, we got 6 NFL championships now rest of NFL bow down.
