I haven't played it yet, but probably Uncharted 2.

It hasn't even been out for a month and some people are already recommending it for Game Of The Year.

Uncharted 2 Among Thieves by far and i own alot of games.
I would have to say the storyline, characters, voice acting, cutscenes, graphics and most importantly the gameplay combined make for a compelling game, i love a game with a good storyline and Uncharted 2 is no exception.
The search for treasures and trophies make for big replayability also, and the multiplayer and multiplayer co-op is top notch.
It plays great it looks great and its addictive (and i loved the first one).
A trully worthwhile purchase for any PS3 owner.

re: Best Game - PS3

The weapon system alone in MGS4 is what I always wanted in a game. Tons of guns that are all customizable in multiple areas of the gun. It's insane.

Besides that, it has one of the most believable and emotion story lines I've known. To be honest, I can't write everything I love about this game because nobody would read a novel.

Plus, Solid Snake was my first hero.

Uncharted 1 and 2, play them in order for perhaps the most polished gaming experience you've ever seen.

re: Best Game - PS3

There are three games that help the PS3 stand above the Xbox for me. They are-

MGS4 - Perfect in almost every department - graphics are unbelievable, they really show off the power of PS3 well. Gameplay is excellent and you never find yourself frustrated at the game causing you to die, it's all set-up perfectly. Basically if you're rubbish, it's your own fault. Oh, and there's a great finish to arguably the greatest story on any console ever. The online is good as well but, due to Konami's silly p2p thing they had for patches, I haven't played it for ages as it takes so bloody long. A must if you have a PS3 and particularly if you have played the previous titles in the series.

LittleBigPlanet - As probably everyone knows, the most original idea of a game for years. And it's getting bigger and better. The downloadable content has led to me going back time and time again to play LBP. And that's with me being just being a 'player' at the moment, I'm yet to become a talented creator. That's going to change now that I'm Gap Yearing though. Another must for a PS3 owner, particularly given the price it is being sold for atm.

Killzone 2 - An absolutely phenomenal FPS that gives gamers a brilliant alternative to COD or Halo. Killzone 2 actually managed to meet it's hype, in my opinion. A fantastic campaign mode is backed up with some of the best Online gaming on any console. No character type is overpowered, camping is almost impossible and lag is nowhere to be seen. Plenty DLC to find as well to keep you going back for more. It's reasonably priced nowadays too.

These three are a must have if you own a PS3 in my opinion. I've recently bought the first Uncharted as well and I'm slowly making tracks through that, and I'm extremely happy. I'll no doubt be looking into getting the sequel in the coming weeks (although I might wait until after MW2 eventually leaves my PS3 disc tray, by which time I might find myself a bargain )

Even though they've already been mentioned, Metal Gear Solid 4 and Uncharted 2 with LBP behind them (Bioshock as well even if it's multiplate).

re: Best Game - PS3

Metal Gear Solid 4: the Metal Gear solid series is a must play experience for any gamer that owns a Sony console, period. It's got, by far, the most provocative and intricate story line of any game series out there. Pair that with some of the most compelling and unique game play out there, and you've got a solid (no pun intended) game that will keep you coming back for more.

Demon's Souls: By far the best Action RPG experience of this console generation, it's exceedingly difficult, compelling, and extremely unique. It pushes you to play by challenging you over and over again, killing you and daring you to come back for more and more. It has a large, mysterious, and fully explorable world where danger lurks around every corner, it even ups the difficulty every time you die. I know what you're thinking, "that doesn't sound very fun". But trust me on this, it just is. It's difficulty creates a psychological reaction and tension that pushes you and teaches you how to overcome each overwhelmingly difficult obstacle that comes at you. It also has a very interesting Online mode where you can read notes and warnings left by other players, Witness the deaths of other players to give you hints to the dangers that lurk around the corner, and a compelling but mysterious cooperative mode that lacks any communication between players, but functions brilliantly. It ups the anti some by even allowing other players to invade your world and attempt to kill you. The difficulty is far from cheap, it's merely stern. It trains you to get better and thus creates a more rewarding gaming experience. Seriously, it's an amazing game.

Dragon Age Origins: It's multiplatform, but good god is the story of this game intriguing. A perfect crossbreed of Knights of the Old Republic and high fantasy Dungeons and Dragons adventure, it's the perfect game for any lover of story driven RPG games. It has a variety of customization options and a handful of very different playable origins as well as countless choices that will greatly alter the ending of the game. It has a lot of replayability, and for once bioware made an RPG where the tutorial isn't painfully boring, long winded, and painful, so you're anxious to play the game again immediately after beating it.

Little Big Planet: A compelling 3D platformer with fun puzzles and platforming action, it has unlimited amounts of user created content and a vast variety of levels so that the game never becomes stale. From time to time you'll leave it, only to come back a month later and find millions of new levels and obstacles to challenge your mettle with.

Valkyria Chronicles: A tactical RPG that has you command various troops to victory in combat over various enemy forces. The story isn't great, but the gameplay is so intuitive and interesting that it makes up for it. If you're a fan of the tactical aspect of various RTS games, as well as the various upgrade systems of individual characters in RPG's, this is the game for you.
