Whoops sorry, should have read over it, but I had a PM to get to. Anyway what I meant to say was if the Wii reaches its full potential by using the best of both styles of controller, all the real classics are downloadables and so on it will have a hell of a lot going for it.(Hopes and prays) The future of gaming and the best of the past. So Sony will probably have a hard time keeping up.

If the Wii, reaches half its potential it will be a fairly difficult fight for all three.

If they charge to high for the classics and the new controller flops (God Forbid), it will be 50/50 Sony/Xbox. If that happens then the likely scenerio is Xbox will be winning at first and then it will slowly drift to Sony (but constantly be tense for both).

Well i don't like consoles to fail but to be honest right now i don't think the Nintendo Wii has much of a chance, its motion controller is a cute gimmick but once the gimmick washes off i can just see it being a nuisance.

Its the reason why certain games right now only use certain control methods and others don't, Time Crisis is bad without the Light Gun and Play is unplayable without the Eye Toy, yet the Nintendo Wii is asking so many games to use the motion controller as a primary control function when half the genres don't work for it.

Then you have the Virtual Console most of which are full of games that are free now, they will probably charge the equivalent of $5 for the oldest games and $15 for the N64 games... Not to mention buying the other controller for the console and the snap on shells you also have to buy to play the N64 games, its just not a cheap variant.

Then back to the Wiimote when people get bored of it, because they will sure its a cute way to play with Mario but for the past 25 years gaming has been the same, its not gonna change overnight and the Wii is trying to do that... Thats where the Playstation 3 is going to win, since it incorporates the same intuitive motion with its classic controller design meaning if you don't like motion or you get bored of it you turn it off, the Wii cannot.

If anything it will be like last gen, maybe slightly better for Microsoft this time around going 30/70 is Sony's favour, Nintendo maybe cheap but the market are full of graphics whores when they see its practically the same graphics as a Gamecube you can buy for $60 or so now, they will not be happy.

yea you're right. after all 100 million hardcore PS2 owners get their PS3, the price will drop. thats what it is and you can't argue it if you're going to say hardcore fanboys because fanboys will keep that price right where it is and you know it. the price drop will come regardless of how the system sells. the thing is, you can't assume when it will come because nobody knows how the PS3 will sell yet. sure the price is high but that really doesn't mean anything right now. don't forget the PlayStation brand name. alot of people only buy cell phones, TVs, sneakers and even Microsoft Windows, just because its all they know and it puts them in a comfort zone. people have the money, its about whether or not they are willing to spend it.

Yes as iLL said, i only go for one brand most of the time, and thats Samsung... I have 3 HDTV's in my house all by them, a cell phone by them, dvd player, memory stick, and I'm sure as hell if Samsung came out with a games console i would buy it without thinking twice.

And thats what Sony has in the games market, sure they can make some that do research into the machine weary, but they know fore well the brand name will make them buy the console eventually, and thats the same with almost anyone that is remotely interested.

Actually Nintendo are trying to show the other companies that they should think through which style of controller to use through the example of "Super Smash Brothers. Brawl" and the third parties are probably smart to follow that advice.

It will be a hell of a lot easier than hunting down those consoles and games though. Besides even with the controller costs its the cheapest, especially if you buy Gamecube controllers for it. (I can wait to get my hands on some of my old favorites of mine.)

And you know that it will get boring from playing it when?Just like having a games console in your house would have gotten boring according to the older gamers who played in the arcade. [sarcasm]And its not like they have two types of controller and basic games as well as the new types of ones.[/sarcasm]

That is a fair point about me doing that but right now I am providing the nessecary contrast to keep balance. To be honest I am freaked about how it will work out, but I am so excited about finding out. Also the controllers were slowly being upgraded to keep up with 3D, things just happen to be heating up now.

If Apple came out with a console I'd buy that.

Heh how were they being upgraded, we have had mainstream 3D console gaming since the Playstation in 1994 and the controllers haven't changed much since then, and even if they had they haven't changed because games are 3D they have changed because games need more buttons.

Sure i might be too early to judge the Wiimote but i just don't think the world is ready for motion in the mainstream because it will get repetitive in my opinion, and thats what the standard controllers do well they don't get repetitive, they are designed well and gaming wouldn't be the same without it... The Wiimote from videos just seems slow like Red Steel, when walking and moving around it is chunky.

but then there wouldnt be any games because no software would support it. I kid I kid.
