You dont need vista to play halo 2, all you need is Windows XP Service Pack 2, i just bought win XP sp2 and tried halo 2 on it and it just installed itself and worked, the same thing happened with my mate.

It only works on windows XP service pack 2 it dosent work on service pack 1 or professional or home edition.

so you could spend $400 on vista just to get halo 2 working or just install it on XP Service pack 2 i dunno how it works.

i'm not sure, but some of the .dll files wont work on XP or sumthing like that

however, there IS a patch you can download (kinda illegal)
from some site
it rewrites all the files so XP can understand the language

Everyone is stuck in the past with XP, trying all these risky and illegal patches to try and make Halo 2 work on their outdated computers. Vista is better anyway, and I'm pretty sure that even if you can get it to work on XP it won't have multiplayer, which would suck badly.
The game specifies that it only runs on Windows Vista: deal with it.

Yeah uh no, i got halo2 for windows vista working on my xp. i can only play campaign, but i dont care. vista is garbage dont install it, it will only cause more problems.
