Akuma/Gouki's Symbol |
|
Hey guys.. I am very interested to know if any knows what the symbol on Gouki's back/shirt is. I have been using gouki for some time now and have never known what the symbol means. I also need to know because I am getting it tattooed onto me.
Thanks Chris | |

SuperSonicPlus is correct... for the most part. In Japanese (and also Chinese), the character (it's pronounced "ten" like the number) can either mean "sky" or "heaven". It basically denotes something that is spiritual or heavenly.

no, the Akuma sign means Immortal, he is Evil, how can it be "sky" or "heaven". (very strange)
Believe me, i am a Shotokan master or if you don't know what that means, i am the master of Ryu, Evil ryu, Ken, Evil Ken, Akuma, Shin Akuma, Dan, and Sean. (i know almost everything about them) -------------------

you are all not quite correct...
this symbol does mean sky or ten as you say. But it has one problem, the upper horizontal line is written inncorectly, top and bottom of that line were switched places. And so this gives total new meaning for word sky, or heaven... this symbol means hell as hell is the oposite of heaven

Yeah, this thread should be dead, but I really must say this; martinwalker8, you're not a "shotokan" (that is actually ansatsuken) master if you don't know that Dan trains saikyo-ryu, not ansatsuken. And Gouki is not evil, his Satsu no Hadou philosophy is that killing in a battle is not wrong, and Gouki just wants to find strong opponents. Also, that ten-symbol on Gouki's back actually means sky.

That is not only a symbol it is a Kanji, it represents the 108 demons around the earth. That symbol means "Beyond the limits" or in other words, "Beyond the human power". I hope this info makes clear all of your doubts.

I may be very wrong here, but considering the japanese word for sky is sora I'm rather puzzled as to why they would use a symbol pronounced in such a manner.
Akuma, meaning demon, I can say is 100% evil. Raging demon?!?!?. I dont know of any "good" demons tbh.

@Metropolis
Indeed the japanese word sky is sora but we arent talkin about a japanese hiragana/katakana word here but a chinese kanji and the kanji we're talkin about now is named Ten and it means sky not sora...and as said it means sky, heaven, immortal etc basically saying akuma has no limit to his greatness xD

tonygouki...
you are an idiot. actually, everyone on this thread is an idiot. i don't really want to make this anymore complicated than it really is, but i think all of you can find this very educating. akuma's symbol (无) may be confused by the character for heaven (天). gouki's (akuma's) symbol (无) is just the simplified text of gouken's symbol (無) -- in mandarin, they are both pronounced as "wu". it goes along the line of infinity -- a vocabulary very popular in asian philosopy (i.e., buddhism, taoism, etc.).
