Memo to Harvey Smith

I know how odd it must seem to be reading a fan letter from a not so well know man who you have inspired to become an author, however my reasons for conposing this document have to do with your planned sequel now called Deus Ex 2. Deus Ex has long since inspired many with ideas for the creation of games and shows. For a good example you must watch Ghost in the Shell which mirrors your own Deus Ex Conspiracy in both concept and design. Relevent facts to support this hypothesis can be found in the comparisons of Joseph Manderely with Chief Aromoki and the giant spider bot at the end of Section 3 Area 51 with the now famous Kotchotomo. I realize that this letter will more than likely fall on deef ears given my lack of fame, however I feel that it is both responsibility and duty as a Deus Ex fan to write it. Conspiracy was a great game with a story which has long since inspired many to greatness, but Invisible War though having a great physics engine and flawless graphics was left lacking in the same integrity best seen in your earlier games. The story started off with the same sense of mystery and the journey in keeping with the Deus Ex tradition left much to the emagination, however the endings were simply terrible. For the most part they were anticlimatic and unlike in Conspiracy did little to leave you with a sense of awe. I have not written this document to make fun of Deus Ex Invisible War nor do I wish to. In truth I have written this document to give a warning. What ever your plans for Deus Ex may be you must not under pick up the story after Invisible War. The reason why is simple. Deus Ex's true strength comes from its connection to the modern world. A connection where you sense that this world could occur at any time. If you make a sequel and pick it up after Invisible War you will forever break this bond which up until this point has made a great game and a great genre. I know how odd this must sound taking advice from a fan you know nothing about, but you must understand that I truely wouldn't have written this letter unless I felt conviction in my beliefs for this game and respect for your own creative talents. In fact I have one last peice of advice to give. If I was you I would make the next Deus Ex an alternate timeline as you would have an alternate ending. A timeline where JC Denton choose the Illuminati over enlightenment. There is much more you can do with an alternate timeline story like that while maintining your famous sense of paranoia than you could do with a continued story following up on Invisible War's endings. Also you would be able to appease the fans by having the story take place in the Collapse Era. Thank you for your time.
