Just d/l the demo for Bioshock and it runs a like a dream on my PC: XP, 6400, 1950Pro, 2gb Ram.

But as I've read about a lot of problems even on some high spec machines (especially with ATI gfx), I was surprised how well it ran, so was wondering if there are any performance hits with the full game?

There shouldn't be any problems with the full game. I'd wait until the patch is released before buying the game, however.

Not to disagree with Lord Sion, but the full version ran identically to the demo for me. If you can run the demo without any problems, I see no reason to delay buying the full version.

You should be OK, you have max specs. They've been working on the patch for some time so it should be coming soon. It seems secret about what they are going to alter/fix because testers have a non-disclosure agreement. So far I've found no faults or bugs in the game so maybe it will be more in the way of small improvements ... can't imagine what.

Not been moved by a game as much since HL2.

HL2 has always been my favorite Single-player game. However, Bioshock is neck and neck with it. I love the art-deco feel to it and the overall gameplay is a blast. HL2 still edges it out due to the variety in the gameplay (vehicles and such), but Bioshock is just as good in my opinion.

It's cool Aero, but I've seen reports where the demo worked but the full version didn't. Of course, my computer was crap at the time the demo came out, so I can't really verify either way. I think by Christmas there's a patch out anyway, so you should be fine if it doesn't work out of the box.
