re: General Discussion

exactly, if you go on the computer after buying a game you just wanna install and get straight into the action, you dont wanna sit reading the manual from the screen. i love being able to just take the manual out of the case and reading it before i even touch the computer.

I agree with you on that one, but I was just trying to point out that as time progresses, you'll find that companies will try to increase their profit margin by using less paper and instead opting for a digital approach, even when repackaging older games. Look on the bright side, at least they're killing less trees.

They particularly do this when repackaging games. My point being is that considering I have paid $100 or $110 for a computer game they shouldn't be that tight-arsed as to not give me a manual. Bioshock did, Age of Empires did (my copy of it atleast), Oblivion did. Battlefield 2 has some paper thing that could pass as a manual. Has anyone here ever ever printed out a PDF manual? I can guess the answer. I occasionally print out a page or two of the thing (example the server commands, or the game controls).

re: General Discussion

Well I think that paper manuals are going to become a thing of the past. Everything's going digital these days. I've never dared to print a PDF file and I usually try to avoid even downloading or opening them because I hate Adobe Reader. It's such a resource hog.

Anyway, to get the topic back to Bioshock, has anyone seen this yet (shameless plug)?

It's a video, I scarcely manage to get around to watching them mostly because my internet bandwidth is generally far too busy dealing with downloads. When I've finished this download I'll give it a watch. Just for you. LOL

Yeah, that's true, but that link that Strayfire gave is wonderful. Thanks for that! Anyway...I don't think anyone will be seeing me on here on Monday because I'll have my stuff arrive then and I can finally play it at my own house. It's been such a long time! I feel left out wherever I go and someone mentions Bioshock.

Shhh! Shows you hang out with geeks

With me its not the speed that Acrobat Reader runs at, it's actually just having to read stuff off a screen. I can't settle down and read information on a screen. For work I always print it out so I can read it properly, unless it's one page or less. In this way the whole concept of computers SAVING paper sort of goes out the window sadly. I've never used to much paper since I have had a printer.

re: General Discussion

i cant say im a huge fan of reading off a screen either but if its something short i dont mind at all. i usually steer clear of long articles or reviews or anything. i dont print anything off though, cant be bothered to keep buying printing ink.

Lol. Well, got the game running just fantastically. No installation or activation errors and no crashes yet, but as you know from the last thread I just made, I'm having problems with the sound.
