What graphic setting have you managed with a 7600GT? The 8600's max it on DX10, what about the 7600's under DX9?

We had the highest it could get really. I mean, when seeing trailers, it doesn't give you that 100% quality when seeing it on them, but when buying the game or playing the demo. It's amazing how simple things like water dripping on you monitor screen as you're swimming to land blows you away like that.

My X1600XT can have max graphics but only on 1024 x 768 (decided it was pointless on 1440 x 900 since I shrink screenshots down to 1024 x 768 anyway)
but yeah I found on 1440 x 900 it was laggy in fights and the same with global lighting I think. Other than that I think the screenshots do my card justice in running the game This message was edited by shadowj on Sep 12 2007. ------------------- ![]() ![]()

I am really surprised how well this game runs on low-end systems. Given the whole hoo-ha about how next-gen games were going to kill DX9 computers I really interested how easily people with just mid/low-range DX9 cards are running this game.

The key is that they have obviously spent time looking into how to make the game run with enough fps on low / mid range PC's whilst still looking good. It seems they have done a pretty good job (although on low settings the lighting effects area reeeeeallly low) at getting the balance right.
It's when the difference in gfx from low to high is so vast that people fored to play on low won't buy the game because it looks worse than a game they bought six months ago, so it's in game producers best interests to invest time into getting the balance right I suppose. ------------------- Asus P5N32-E SLi Plus Core 2 Quad Q6600 @2.79ghz 2GB Corsair 8500C5D Dominator @1240mhz Asus 8800 GTX 768MB @640C/1510S/2030M Sgate Barracuda 320GB 7200.10 S-ATAII

re: General Discussion |
quote Evanescence15I'm not surprised really. Bioshock was made for DX9 and DX9 only since it was in development before the 8 series and HD series were born and before DX10 was publicly announced. Nvidia even had to help 2K with the coding on DX10 cards so the game would work right. So for example if Bioshock was announced now and not released until next year or the year after then yes the DX10 version will kill the DX9 version So in other words Bioshock 2 (which has been announced that 2K are going to make Bioshock into a franchise) when it is released will blow Bioshock and all other games away. ------------------- ![]() ![]()

Has anyone else found it funny how Xbox 360 got a patch before the PC version? I mean it does kind of make sense considering the 360 version didn't have much wrong with it, so it wouldn't take so long to make a patch, but it also shows that the 360 development team was more on the ball and dare I say more competent.

maybe cos the 360 version seems to be more popular than the pc. in the teletext game chart the 360 game was at number 1 and the pc was down in 7th or something. its probably just a case of pleasing the bigger audience rather than starting with the smaller crowd of people who are playing the pc version.
i havent encountered any bugs in the game at all though, it runs perfectly for me. ------------------- ![]() ![]() djjimmy . t35 . com

re: General Discussion |

aye, dare I say the 360 crowd are more impatient and if they don't get their "fix" (no pun intended) then they cause a riot
but I haven't encountered any problems and so 2K have probably surveyed the two platforms and thought it would be best to tackle the 360 crowd. Not to mention it depends on the type of bugs and glitches. The PC ones being reported could be more serious than the 360 and don't forget the PC version does have the problem of SecuROM ------------------- ![]() ![]()

re: General Discussion |

yeah, it seems most of the pc versions problems are to do with installation and internet activation. that could be viewed as a bigger problem than any the 360 players could come up with. some pc gamers are having trouble simply getting the game to install and to play it. thats a huge problem but like i said, the 360 crowd seems bigger so maybe thats why their patch has been released first.

quote shadowjActually what you are saying is perfectly true. In the last days I have been doing the BETA testing for the game Crysis fully maxed out with AA and AF my heavily overclocked 8800GTX has been screaming with pain. I am talking not getting over 40fps mark. This is just at 1440x900 and this is a card that usually blitzes games. Actually the BETA (as well as work) have been whats been keeping me away from the forum lol. -------------------
