System Requirements Lab's Can you run it

This will check your PC against the requirements of a game. Just simply look in the list and select Bioshock - PC. Let the site do what it needs (don't worry no spyware etc. but it will need to install something to read your hardware)

It will then give you results of what you have and what you need

My PC meets all minimum requirements and for recommended except it tells me to get a more powerful videocard (For some reason HP PC's detect a X1600XT as X1300)

My PC is an epic failure on that test. I failed the system RAM and Video card checks, but I was buying those anyway.

it says i pass on everything, even the recommended requirements, except that i only have 256mb memory on my graphics card instead of 512. but it does say i only just pass the minimum for OS cos i have XP, i mean come on, you dont need the pile of shit excuse for an OS that is vista just yet.

overall my pc comes about 1/4 of the way between minimum and recommended settings, on the diagram thingy that they have at the top of the page. i dont get that really cos i have everything but 512mb on my GPU and i only get 1/4 of the way above the minimum requirements. but oh well.

Yeah, system requirements lab has an odd way of detecting hardware. I tested Oblivion against my friends computer and it said his cpu was faster than mine even though he has an e6600 Core 2 Duo 2.4 with 1066fsb and I have an e6750 Core 2 Duo 2.66 with 1333fsb. Unless I'm missing something, I don't understand how this is possible.

thats not possible, the faster processor is always the better one and obviously the E6750 is the better between those two.

system requirements lab is weird, but not as weird as yougamer.com though cos i did a comparison on that and it said i passed even the recommended settings when i only have a 256mb 7900GS GPU instead of the 512mb 8600 that is actually recommended. for some reason it says my card is, and i quote, "about as powerful in raw performance" as the 8600. cant explain that one.

It's true actually, your 8600GT is comparable to a 7900GS, performance-wise. The most noticeable differences are the support for DX10 and SM4.0 and of course the unified shaders.

My PC runs the Bioshock demo perfectly at 1280x1024, maxed out settings (DX10 shaders turned off as I'm on XP) and 16xAF forced through the driver menu.
I'm on an Nvidia 8800GTS 320mb @ 580/1800Mhz, C2D E6750 @ 2.66Ghz (stock for now) and 2 gigs of DDR2-800 RAM.

What are your sys reqs?

Just take a screenshot of your System Requirements Lab results and then we can easily see what needs to be replaced.

Better than that go to Start/Run (if you have XP) or Start/All Programs/Accesories/Command Prompt (if you have Vista). Type in dxdiag, and the DirectX diagnostic tool will come up. Tell me all the information you see under the "System" tab and all the information you see under the "Device" tab.

easier if he presses the "save all information" which will ask to save the dxdiag as a .txt then simply copy & paste what it says here
