re: Game Crash

What are you system specifications. On Vista go to Start/Accessories/Command Prompt and then type in dxdiag. On XP go to Start/Run then type in dxdiag.

All the information you need is there.

re: Game Crash

Hmmm just reading through others similar problems. Try installing the latest driver for your graphics card. Tekmosis had the issue fixed by simply rebooting totally by hitting the Reset button on his PC.

NOTE: 8800GTS with 3800+ ??? *cries* I feel sorry for your graphics card!

Read my updated post

If you want a decent CPU, try the Intel E6600, Q6600 or E6750

re: Game Crash

An E6400 does the job nicely though if you have a 8800GTS I would go with Evan's suggestions...also I would grab another Gig of RAM...newer games are going to eat that up for breakfast no matter if you have the superman of all videocards

re: Game Crash

Definitly have to agree with shadow about the RAM. If you are to use 8800GTS to full potential you'll need Windows Vista, and that chews RAM like anything. If you are mostly into gaming and don't want to spend big money then just get Vista Home Basic. Whatever version of Vista you buy make sure it's the OEM edition! I have clocked Vista using 728MB of RAM while it was doing nothing. That means that if you have 1GB then you aren'y left with much overhead. 2GB minimum for todays games (more if your looking at Crysis).

No you didn't. There is no reason that you shouldn't be able to install the latest graphics drivers. Strayfire's link has the driver you need to download. Download it. Install it. Play the game.

re: Game Crash

Alright, to be perfectly honest, I would put off all hope of trying to fix this until the official patch. So many people are having random unexplained crashes even if their hardware was well above the recommended requirements, and nothing suggested has helped them at all. For now, try adding the -dx9 command to the start menu shortcut, and turning of EAX Sound and High Detail Shaders if you haven't already.
