Funny Video Review |

Watch it here. This guy talks really fast and the illustrations that go with it are hilarious. I thought the PC forum goers would appreciate this more than the 360 guys. You'll find out why in the video.

Yeah, that's exactly why I didn't post it in both forums.

Hahahaha, that was great.
quote shadowjThat phrase is actually EXACTLY what popped into my head when I saw that you could get a hint by pressing H. The part about it being too easy I agree with, because the Vita-Chamber resurrection is FAR too forgiving. The gameplay itself is actually hard, but when you've an unlimited amount of times to die and be resurrected with barely any repercussions, what motivation do you have to do what it takes to stay alive? I think it's, again, scaling the game down for the kids that'll be playing it on console. ------------------- ![]()

it is a bit stupid with the vita-chambers. at the start of the area with sander cohen you have to go into the bathysphere room, he closes it down so you cant leave and when you retreat to the previous room there are a load of trapbolts across the room. i didnt have the telekinesis plasmid and couldnt be bothered to use any other means of getting rid of em so i just let the spider slicers kill me so i could get past the trapbolts to the vita-chamber and the gene-bank behind it. ive never had much of a problem with the difficulty but the vita-chambers make it just a tad too easy.

That review was awesome, excellent finding the link there Lord Sion. I've seen a few reviews from them, and they all tend to be excellent. He did mention that that game was one of the best games he's played, he basically had two complaints which he just complained about at different angles.

He's actually rather accurate; this game is praised so much because it's such goodness amongst so much shit, but that doesn't mean it doesn't have its own flaws. He manages to look beyond the hailing of it as a god to see that, while it does deserve the hype relative to everything else available, it's not entirely perfect in itself.
EDIT: By the way, the man who wrote this Escapist BioShock review, Russ Pitts, is going to be present at Tuesday's Xfire Gaming Careers Chat. This message was edited by Strayfire on Sep 08 2007. ------------------- ![]()

re: Funny Video Review |

aye every game has a flaw or more but they are minor flaws I believe. Yes the game is made too easy due to the vita-chambers and heavily tripping over ammo and first-aid kits
but look at it from another angle. Normal FPS games make the game hard by adding more enemies to a map (so 1 becomes 10 in one area) they also make finding ammo rare...this is mostly the rule of thumb to any FPS. Bioshock doesn't do that but instead gives you a reason to hack a vending machine/ammo bandit when needed or to remember that area the ammo you needed was in. I also believe it cons those "shoot first, ask questions later" gamers into running into a big daddy just to show that you might be able to survive doing that at one point in the game but not another point. I guess the game caters for both types of gamers but unfortunately by doing so, it still makes the game easy for all ------------------- ![]() ![]()

re: Funny Video Review |
quote StrayfireThat review was pretty good, except for the fact that page 3 is an exact replica of page 1. Anyway, yeah the game has its flaws but I think that they are really quite minor. I think he found two things wrong with it, like Mishtram said, but the biggest of those is the difficulty. Like shadowj said, the gameplay is difficult, but being able to respawn at the nearest vita-chamber pretty much cancels that out. It's refreshing to see someone actually look at the game and not claim perfection, because no game is perfect nor will any ever be perfect, because of the simple fact that you can't please everyone. It's pretty much what I would write in a review, which I may do when I get more experience with the game and can make a fair judgment on it. But yeah, glad you guys liked the video. ------------------- Hi

re: Funny Video Review |

aye. I submitted a review, which my gripes about the game are known but indeed. Not everyone can be pleased and so somewhere along the line a not so perfect review will be given. I gave the game a 5.0 mainly because it has given a fresh look at the FPS genre which the genre desperately needed. Whether that carries on or catches on is another thing in itself.
But yes you can see where 2K games have tried to cater for both types of gamers...which there is nothing wrong by that but maybe cutting down on a few vita-chambers (putting them only in key areas like the start of each area etc.) or placing vending machines in key areas or not giving so much ammo to trip over would make it slightly harder than it is since yes Big Daddies aren't a walk in the park and if you're not careful then neither are splicers but aye the same happened with Oblivion...they dumbed it down for the console users...which for the PC users wasn't a bad thing since the modding community got a hold of that and released a mod that disabled map markers, the compass and fast travel to give the PC user a challenge though to give Oblivion a defence...the difficulty slider does actually add a challenge, especially if slid to max difficulty. At the end of the day it is all experimental for the game makers. Such as todays fashion is all about MMORPG's so yes Halo 3 will be a massive hit just because it allows multiplayer option. WoW is still being raved about and even compared to Oblivion (which just doesn't add up since one is MMORPG and the other is single player) ------------------- ![]() ![]()

re: Funny Video Review |
quote shadowjI agree that less vending machines would have been nice. I believe in the review the guy says that there are more vending machines than there are people. Also, having Vita chambers in only a few key points would have given players more incentive not to die. That way they can still appeal to casual players and keep immersion high while at the same time keep the game challenging as it's very annoying to have to retrace your steps just to get back to where you died, and the longer you have to travel, the less you'll want to die in-game. ------------------- Hi
