Any 'Shock' veterans? |
|
So, any of you guys play System Shock 1 or 2? Or are you new to the 'series'.
(And yes, I know BioShock isn't a sequel - the rights to SS are in limbo - though I hear the dev team refer to it as a 'spiritual sequel') Personally, I got System Shock 2 a good while ago and loved it to bits. Never played the original System Shock, though I would have loved to. ------------------- ![]()

Never played it, remember seeing it featured on TV years ago when I was younger and being scared by it though.

From what I've read and heard, SS2 was the shit. I should try and find it and play it if I get the chance.

I played SS2 several times...unfortunately, I let a friend borrow my copy a couple of years ago, and I never got it back
I remember the first time I played it, I kept my room really dark, and I had to keep looking over my shoulder the whole night after I got off the computer because I thought I heard one of those all to familiar moans behind me. Such an intense atmosphere, I cant wait to experience it again in Bioshock. BTW...first weapon given to you in SS2-a very large wrench And for any other Shock2 vets, does anyone else remember the "secret" dancing robot in the beginning? quote JaquioNope. Here it is: The Home of the Underdogs Download it for free since a real copy is going for $38-$100+ By the way, this game is ugly as hell, but deep, scary, and immersive. You may have trouble running it on newer PCs, so make sure you check out some fansites for tips on getting it to run well. I didn't have any problem with it, but the engine is from the original Thief, so it didn't age gracefully.

I am ze master of system shock 2 and 1.
I love playing it on LAN with friends, especially with coop feature. I basically sucked all juice out of this game, especially with the new REBIRTH MOD... the midwives have big juicy ... ahem... srry... spaced out for a second. I hope BIOSHOCK is worth the pay... I hope bioshock turns out to be as good as System shock!

From the footage available, I am thinking that the game is going to be as good or better than SS1 or 2. I am kind of curious how weapon swapping will work, since they have announced that there will be no inventory menu like the SS games...I am thinking possibly a radial menue similar to shadowrun, maybe?

'Look at you hacker, a pathetic creature of meat and bone, panting and sweating as you run through my corridors. How can you challenge a perfect immortal machine?' Shodan.. Best villan ever.
My girlfriend loved System Shock 2 (She hates FPS), we've played Co-op quite a few times. Nothing funnier than a few people panicking because they are out of AP ammo with a few suicide bots heading towards you. This message was edited by miller on Jul 12 2007. -------------------

I tried playing System Shock 2, but it didn't work too well on XP without No-CD cracks and various patches, and I don't even want to bother with it on Vista, but I did enjoy the 10 or so hours I was able to play the game before the glitches got to me.

I've played both System Shock and System Shock 2, the sequel is probably one of my top five favorite games of all time. I'm sure Bioshock will make that list as well.
