Screenshots+My impressions. All screens by me, requests anyone? |
|
So, I have the game, and will be uploading a bunch of screenshots for whoever wishes to view them.
Impressions: Well, I am NOT a fan of Driver Parallel Lines, though I do like everything made before that. Mainly the handling, and I just couldn't be bothered finishing the missions. I figured if I could take it with me I might play it more, as I've stopped playing my PS2, it's in my brothers room, an inconvenience, and DPL was the last game I bought for it. So having it portable is probably going to be better. Graphics are about up to par with what the PSP can do, which is quite good, very respectable, I already see areas I recognize from DPL, and the cars look reminiscent as well. Same old kick-arse sound track too There seems to be an area of finish with this game that the PS2 version never achieved. If you'll look at the menu screenshots, you'll notice that you use shoulder buttons to change screen. Very interesting. Wait, no, I don't have any screens that show that. It's there though I promise. Makes the game feel better; more fun than a random boring game that feels like the rest. The handling has also been changed quite a bit, and feels a LOT better, and a lot more fun to drive with. I've only played for a couple of minutes so far, homework needed doing, but impressions are good. The game has character ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() -------------------

Second impression: Well I've been playing it all day, and it really is better than Parallel Lines. I dunno how long it will last, I'm getting the feeling I'm most of the way through the missions, but it really is great
Ps. Sorry about poor screenshot quality, the game does look a bit better. More screens will be up tomorrow. Then we'll have a bit of a collection for when someone finally visits the forum Edit: Just completed the last mission. It seems the game doesn't get hard at all, and then the last mission is just really long. It's pretty good, lots of driving in some great cars. Not hard though. I did every single mission in one shot, except for one because it was the first time I'd ever driven a motorbike, in a motorbike race. Time to mod cars. There are also 50 'side jobs' to complete after the missions are done, and 125 big star things to collect around the city. I think I'll wait for a map with those on them. Shorter than DPL, but I've heard DPL wasn't very long anyway. And I still like this more. This message was edited by Ville_Valo on May 11 2007. -------------------

for me, it doesnt matter whether it is free roam coz i really enjoyed mafia: city of lost heaven. (i still havent tried free ride or free ride extreme) i expect driver 76 is like that. u think it would be in any used game stores now? anyway, great work ville. keep it up.

Nah, no way it would be in a used game store yet.
Yes, there is free roaming, but it isn't neccessary. In order to make the game more accessible for the PSP they took out the feature of having to drive to every mission, you can just jump to them now. This means that when you're playing on a bus or whatever, you're not stuck driving halfway across New York, or doing something boring, it's always missions. More screens soon. Internet has shat itself. They're taken, just not uploaded. -------------------

Demonstrating the menu, and the shoulder control buttons. Pretty nifty I think, very original.

They're all the screens I've made 'till now, and since I've stopped playing it, having finished it, these will probably be all unless someone requests any. If you need any help, post here, I'll reply in a day, no more. Enjoy! This message was edited by Ville_Valo on May 17 2007. -------------------

Thanks for these, I never was a Driver fan and both DriverIII and Parallel Lines turned me away from the series. I think i'll give 76 a try though as it sounds better and improved from the last installation on Ps2. Thanks again for your mini-review

Not bad. So is it quite a lot like GTA:LCS? Better or worse?

Quite a bit different, but not as good. No free-roamer can match what GTA has had going for the last few years, but it's got character and it's a good game.

No, it's nothing like those games really. Driv3r is the true sequel to those games, Parallel Lines and '76 aren't.
