Read the nearby sign, and it will tell you about a guy who loved dogs but hated people. Basically, get someone to follow you to the thing, then get them inside it. Pull the lever outside, and the doors close on the person. When they open, the person is gone, and you'll find that they've been replaced by your incredibly old dog. If you don't have the Knothole Island DLC, then you're sh*t out of luck.} -------------------

The family mechanics in this game aren't great, so nobody really gets attached to them, and only choose love for the dog. Basically, the love wish is now completely pointless.
