Franchise Mode

I just tried out the offseason. is it me or is that absolutely nothing to do? Ya sign players. Its a lot slower than past years. no more scouting players? the draft is rediculously slow, and you cant sim to your own picks, only sim the entire draft...
Am i missing somthing here or did EA just screw me out of $60.
seems to me theres a hell of a lot less to do this year than last.

re: Franchise Mode

Well if you're comparing this year's version compared to last years version on REGULAR Xbox, then yes you are most likely correct. EA still has not been able to include all of the features and what not that are included in the current gen consoles because they had to make Madden, and all other sports games for that matter, from scratch whenever they started developing for 360. Give them until next year and I expect the game to be back to the old/good ways, even though this year's is pretty good. I don't really try to nit-pick about that type of stuff, I find the gameplay to be solid as well as the mini games, and it's a ton better than Madden 2006 for 360. Just try playing the features that are in the game and you should hopefully enjoy it.

re: Franchise Mode

It's Franchise Mode, not owners mode.

What's their to scout? They give you ever break down per player AND team that you would need.

Go play the Xbox or Playstation versions and tell me this is slow.

Weird, considering the franchise mode in Madden '04 let you create stadiums...

I liked the playmaker feature that was implemented in the '04 version; the one that allowed you to point to places on the field to send receivers when the QB was on the move.
damn you must really like the '04 version the best, or did you just play '04 and then skip to '07?

just a off topic curious question by the way

re: Franchise Mode

I played 2005 and LOVED the franchise... moving teams, changing nicknames and uniforms, scouting rookies, moving players around form position to position

This game's franchise is terrible. It's like 2001!!!

The graphics may be improved but i feel there is no excuse to leave out such established and pretty easy apps.

They've been doing a custom playbooks with create-a-play for 4 yrs, yet they're nowhere to be found.

Custom packages are also missing, even though you cna use the ready made crappy ones.

To me, it just looks like laziness. There is not sufficent difference between this game and 06 for 360 to justify the lack of features.

THUMBS DOWN!!!!!!

Laziness? Laziness??? Even though I am not a fan of EA how can you call them lazy? Madden 06 for 360 had no features because they only had 6 months at most to develop Madden on the console. EA had to start from scratch(nothing, nada) to make Madden 06 on 360 and they had to start from scratch on the features they added into 07 as well. They didn't have the luxury of just being able to add small simple stuff to the tons and tons of features they had added in years past. They are still developing the already known features for current on the 360 because there is only so much you can get done in a single year, especially in game programming and developing. I'd like to see you start from scratch and finish with as many features as the current generation consoles in 1 and a half years. It's a lot tougher than you think with new technology and that is why I must give EA credit for what they have. I suggest you become much more appreciative, too.

re: Franchise Mode

i dont have to blindly appriciate a $60 step backwards for my fave franchise ever.

Developers knew the 360 and they knew that they would release a new madden every year. I've bought eVERY madden besides 2003 whihc i rented 5 times in a row from blockbuster and I never remember it making them so long to get it togetehr on a new console. Madden 64 didnt have the liscense, but thats legal stuff and the game still ruled.

This edition just doesnt seem to be a leap foward enough to justify a new purchase. I played 06 for 360 extensively and besides the lead blocker and the two mini camp drills, its exactly the same... limited compared to last-gen siblings.

i am starting to belive the lack of competiton is getitng to them. Since they got the exclusive all they added was the lead blocker and QB vision, which everyone i kno hates and turns off

re: Franchise Mode

If you noticed in '04 you can select whether you want to do a Franchise or Owner's mode. If you don't make money as an Owner you're automatically downgraded to the Head Coach as in Franchise Mode.

Haha, I loved Madden '04. It was probably the best modern-day Madden game; by far my favorite.

re: Franchise Mode

Brian, you're missing the point. The reason the current gen consoles have so many features is because EA doesn't have to do a thing except carry over the old modes and then add a couple of things, it's nice and easy to do since it's the same software and console, etc. But the reason 06 for 360 was limited was because EA didn't receive the prototype of 360 until at the earliest spring, which gave them LESS THAN A YEAR to develop Madden for a console in which they had no idea on how to develop with. They didn't have the ability to just transfer all of the old modes onto the 360 version because since 360 is a different console, and newer, they had to take the time to figure out how to develop on it, which includes all of the player movements, sounds, fields, every little thing in the game, etc. They got a whole year for 07 but it still takes time to learn the new system and to develop on it. I don't like to bitch but it just pisses me off when people bad mouth and bitch about a company who had next to no time develop a game on a brand new system. I just wish people would stop bitching and realise that programming isn't the easiest thing in the world to do, especially when you do it on something completely new.

I personally liked Madden 2005 the best.

Not exactly. Before a system's launch, companies always develop games based on estimated system specs.
