Superstar: WTF is up with these coaches???? |
|
Okay, I decided to give superstar mode one more go, this time at running back because thats what most people say is the most fun.
I dont see how. I got an outstanding runningback after all my drills and the combine. 4.55 in the 40, 42 reps on the weight bench, and then 70,000+ on the rushing attack. I was drafted in the 3rd round, rated 99. 95 speed, 88 strength, the rest is history. I get drafted by the Patriots at first. I skip the preseason and get right to the first game of the year against the bills. I take the first play from scrimmage for 9 yards. 2nd and 1, they call pass. Incomplete. 3rd and 1. Pass. Incomplete. Punt. Next series, once again, I get the ball on first down for a good gain. 2 passes. By the end of the game, I got to touch the football SEVEN times for 43 yards. How is this fun for you guys? You cant see shit, you cant pick the plays, and the coaches wont give you the ball. I demanded a trade, got traded to the Steelers, who are a smashmouth team, Same shit. I got 12 carries in that game for 85 yards in a loss. Got traded to the Ravens, who last I checked run the ball quite a bit, and I only got 8 carries all game. Is there ANY way to alter the playcalling run/pass ratio on this? This just flat out is not any fun. Hell, Im watching the game being played more than Im playing. Feels like Im playing for the 99 rams every team I go to. Pass, pass, pass, pass, pass. Freakin ridiculous. 2nd and 3rd and short and they call passes really irks me when Im averaging over 6 yards per rush. Also the quarterbacks getting intercepted like 5 times per game really pisses me off also. Tom Brady threw it to the other team like it was free. Roethlisberger was the same, chucking up 3 picks. Mcnair threw 2, and a ton of incompletions. I liked superstar mode a lot better on 06 for PS2 when you could call the plays and at least keep things balanced. How am I supposed to make an impact on the team, when I never get the damned football? Then every incompletion, failed 3rd down, or interception drops MY influence. Like its MY fault the QB throws it into the double coverage. Hell, I moved my guy to kickoff and punt returner as well, and made more of an impact there than I did with the offense. At least there, I could get my hands on the ball. Not even 20 touches a game for a 99 rated running back is just a bit ridiculous, especially when it happens with 3 different teams.

How many 99 overall rookie players have debuted in Madden in the last 10 years? How many were running backs?
It's shitty programming, sure, but it counter balances the star that probably shouldn't be. Anyway, I always play Quarterback. I can audible out of anything. -------------------

I get the same problems, Stinger, but the real question is what the *bleep* is up with the Quarterbacks? Whenever I play as a WR, the QB always passes it less than 2 seconds after they get the ball, and it gets either knocked down or picked off. I barely ever get the ball. When the QBs do pass it to me, though, they do it when I'm being double covered, and I didn't even call for the ball. Plus, the QBs that were passing to me were, first, Tom Brady and, second, Trent Green. You'd think they'd be better.

quote NightmareXYah dude, it sucks. This happens to me too. They pass way to freakin quickly. Im tired of finaly getting the chance to go deep, and the QB passes the ball before I even pass the first down marker! Damn!! -------------------

same here. i was on the jets and my WR could burn ANYONE i was easily 5 yards ahead of champ bailey when we played the broncos but i still hardly ever got the ball, and when i did i was lucky and could usually break the first tackle and be gone. Hell i got into the prowbowl like that and was lucky enough to pass to myself every single time. But then i had 3 reception for my next season...3 the pro bowler offensive rookie of the year had 3 receptions thats bull. So i start using defence to let off of all of the annoying play calls, but defense is boring as hell. You're hardly ever in the right place and you cant destroy linemen fast enough or run past them enough times to get a sack or TFL . Also theres the play calling in general. one time it was 3rd and 19 on the 1 yard line (not getting a saftety was a miracle) and what do they do? a draw, well that worked out wonderfully, right back to the line. Then we were on the other 1 yard line ready to score and they call a hail mary! with one yard to score why the hell would you use a hail mary. It wasnt even late in the quarter either just midgame
