this game refuses to run on my hd tv
"this resolution is not supported"


before i start ill list my setup
my tv is a sony 40inch hd ready with a native of 1360 x 768
pc - hp p4 3ghz / 2 gig ram.. and tons of free hardrive space
graphics - nvidia gforce 9800gt with 1gig on board ram
os - windows xp pro sp2
- most recent direct x 9c
- most recent and upto date gfx drivers


ive been using this setup for a while and have had NO other problems
with any other games at all.. whatsoever... all the games ive run on this
set up work perfectly well at a variety of different resolutions and refresh
rates.

- i run the game
black screen = "this resolution is not supported" (Tv display error)

- after hours on forums, i find the config file
i change this:
myWidth 0
myHeight 0
to this
myWidth 1360
myHeight 768
and save the config

-run game
"this resolution is not supported"


-i open the txt config again to make sure the game didn't overwrite my edit .. it looks ok
myWidth 1360
myHeight 768
i run the game again: "this resolution is not supported"

-i reboot my pc then run the game
"this resolution is not supported"

-i re-open the config file ... to check on any overwrites then run the game yet again
"this resolution is not supported"

-i change
myWidth 1360
myHeight 768
to
myWidth 800
myHeight 600
i run the game
"this resolution is not supported"


ive had my pc and tv for some time now, and i think i know what screen modes will work and wont work

1360 x 768 and 800 x 600 works on EVERY OTHER GAME I HAVE

-i open my pc, and clean my gfx card
run the game
"this resolution is not supported"

-i change this
myWidth 800
myHeight 600
to this
myWidth 1024
myHeight 768
run game
"this resolution is not supported"


i try on 2 other tvs my mates have (hd tellys)
"this resolution is not supported"


-i try editing other things in the config file to see if those change
i set video and music to off then save the config
i run the game
"this resolution is not supported"
however now i cant hear the intro music so i know the game isn't overwriting the config file

-i again open the config file and see if turning fill screen mode off works
i run the game
briefly a window mode pops up then it automatically goes into fullscreen mode
and... the usual "this resolution is not supported"

- i open the config to check if the game overwrited my edit to set fullscreen off.. the config still
shows that the fullscreen mode is set to off
just to see i change it back to full screen mode
i run the game
the game now immediately goes into fullscreen mode but..
"this resolution is not supported"


- i open again the config file and change full screen mode to off
i run the game
briefly a window mode pops up then it automatically goes into fullscreen mode


-i reinstall direct x9c
i run the game
"this resolution is not supported"


-i reinstall my graphic card drivers
i run the game
"this resolution is not supported"

-i reinstall windows (yes i went that low trying to get this much anticipated game to work)
i reinstall all the necessary things.. dx9c gfx drivers.. etc etc
i run the game
"this resolution is not supported"

i give up at this stage

why is this happening
why when i change the conig files sound setting dose it work
why when i change the fullscreen to off and then run the game it goes to windowd mode for a second then
goes into fullscreen mode...

is there a bug or something with the games config file? is the game picking and choosing what values to take from
the config file at random?

if someone could point me to a fix for this it would be fantastic
