Edit: Just noticed you said to make a new one after closing the other In any case, this forum isn't the most lively place on Neo. Writers don't get enough credit for their work.

Apologies, but sometimes there is far too much going on for me to wait around for a half hour. To make sure something is done I have to take the initiative, so that it doesn't get lost on my to-do list. I figured the forum would appreciate that more than if I had just closed the old thread and left everyone twisting in the wind.



ninmecu: This forum has always been a quiet one, but it makes for a nice calm place for writers to converge and enjoy each other's company without the 'noise' of some of the busier forums.

In my opinion, when I was posting poetry and other works, I appreciated that this Lounge was a bit out of the way because so much of my work was so personal.

_{I'm in a bit of a writing slump recently; I'm still working on $20k, but it's mostly grunt-editing work which doesn't take much creativity rather than new scenes.}

I like the quietness of the forum as well, even though I could contribute more. Just don't have the time to do so lately :3

Does anyone still remember the Neoseeker Official Writing Contest the one I won back there in 2003?

Maybe we should run a contest again. It could be interesting.

Uh, most of us here weren't around back then.I personally wouldn't be interested or participate, that's not why I wrote and probably never will be.

A writing contest sounds fun, so long as it's short stories, I don't have time to start anything too long. (I'm awful at poetry as well, so I probably wouldn't compete if it was a poetry contest.)

Would we have enough people in this forum to make it worth while though?

Request| Poem!
I was wondering if any of you would be interested in scripting together a valentines poem (say around 14 lines and a little cryptic, aka not stright to the point) for me. If any are interested would you be able to let me know over Pm as, well yeah I could do with one for a special someone. Of course I will fill you more in on what is needed over the pm though it will be quite basic. You will need the whole idea of what can make it sound great and choice of words etc.. Thankyou ^-^

This isn't in response to anyone on this forum, but what's the best way to tell a person that he (I actually don't know gender, but I hate typing he/she) should reevaluate the way he writes? By the way, this pertains to FanFiction.Net, which might color some of your opinions.

I was recently asked (It was more like a form of advertisement) by a person's friend (I'm assuming it's a friend rather than the same person using multiple accounts) to review a story because it would make that person happy. So, I went. And read.

And I hated it.

Not because of its plot, but because it was something I'd expect from a grade schooler. Spoken quotations by different speakers formed one paragraph. For example:

"I thought that the movie was awesome.""Me too!"She replied."Cool dude!"He said.

Character names were misspelled. Words were misspelled. Sentences went on like this:

She looked around.She saw nothing.She walked away.

It wasn't... It wasn't anything good at all, and the style and general contempt for any sort of writing convention continues like that for several months worth of work without improvement. Various people have pointed out the flaws, but the writer continues on as such, openly displaying enjoyment for arguing with "flamers" and stating that he "always wins" and all that. Is this the point where I can't do anything, that all I can do is leave the writer alone because of a distinct lack of desire to improve?

And if I should say something, is there something better to say than "review middle school English" which is the equivalent of sticking my tongue out and blowing a raspberry?
