"Come on Margret, don't you wanna prove how brave you are?" Victor said, as he was on the other side of the bridge. So who's Margret you ask? She's just a poor defenceless girl. Margret is me. I wish I hadn't done what I did. Now I'm stuck in this mess. What mess you ask? A double-dare match. Now lets back up into the story shall we? This is where it all began.


"Have a nice day at school Margret! Meet new people, and make good choices sweetie!" Mom called out from the backyard. She was gardening as usual. I waved good-bye, and grabbed my book bag and headed out the door. The air had a crisp feeling which gave me the notice that fall was coming. I lived in a small town. Some where in a state. I didn't care much about where I lived. As long as I have a roof over my head, I'll be fine. My town had shallow people and posh folk farther down the lane. The richy people we call them. I stuck my hands inside my pocket, because it was freezing cold. Still, the pockets didn't do any good. I walked down the sidewalk and reach the school. I looked above me, as I see brown crispy leaves stuck in the gutter of the school. I was always early to come to school. Mom and the teachers said it was dangerous to be outside all alone, when nobody is watching me. I didn't care. I just sat down in from of the school, on the hard pavement and waited. The sky was still dark, because it was 6:49 in the morning. I guess you can say I live close to school, or I'm just a fast walker.

A car pulled up in the school parking lot. "That must be Cara and her dad." I thought as I got up from the cold floor. Cara was my best friend. She's been with me since the first grade. It didn't look like Cara's dad's car. It looked raggy, and dirty with scratches all over the bumper. Then, a man came out of the car holding up a pistol in his hand. That I knew, I would have to run for my life.

I think it could be a lot better and you could have introduced the characters in a more exciting way than you did.

The man was tall and had a serious look on his face. He shot the pistol on the pavement. I knew he was aiming for me, but the bullet didn't hit me. I was shocked and I felt glued to the floor. Finally, I knew I had to run. I ran as fast as I could, before the man could ever reach me. I didn't stop. The school was getting smaller and smaller, in the distance. "I think I lost him." I said out loud without any more breath. "Not quite, my dear girl." He said, as I turned around the man grabbed my arm carrying me off into the woods.


"What do you want with me!" I said in a quivery voice.

"Oh dear. My sweet sweet, child. There is no need to fear me. I just want to know where you keep the money!" His voice become powerful in anger.

"Where is the money you brat! I know you have the money. Tell me where it is in the school, or else I'll blow your head off." He gave me a stern look, and his eyes felt like it was burning my flesh as he stared at me hard.

"I don't know where it is! Please don't pull the trigger please!" I begged him.

"I need to know where the money IS! Don't lie kid that will only get yourself in trouble!" I was silent and I didn't speak. The man slapped my cheek, and it turned bright red. He threw me on the ground and punched me in the face. My nose and lip were bleeding. I was in deep pain, but I guess I just needed a good beating.

"So, after I bruised you, you still don't tell me where the money is? Say good-bye." He pulled the trigger, and I covered my face. I didn't get hit. I put my hands off of my bruised and bloody face. I look down onto the forest floor, and I see the man. He had shot himself, in the neck with the pistol. I get up from the ground and walked out of the forest. I look at my watch: 7:10. School is about to start, and I bet Cara is looking for me. "Margret! Margret! Where are you!?!" I knew that voice. It was Cara's voice in the distance. I followed the voice out of the forest, hoping no more random men pop out of cars attack me like angry ravens.

I saw the school finally. I stepped onto the pavement, I felt confused and hurt at the same time. The bell rang and everybody knew it was time for school to get started. I was the last one to go in the front doors. Nobody in the hallway asked what happened to me. They didn't seem to care. Lockers slamming, papers bursting out of bulletin boards, and teachers nagging kids. I felt wide awake now. From seeing school, to a dead guy on the forest floor. I shrugged at the thought of what the man looked like. I saw my home room class. 289. I paused a bit to relax myself. I could already hear, Mr. Rich telling my class mates to bring the assay that had to do, a week ago. I put my hand on the door handle, and took in a deep breath. I opened the door and all eyes were on me.


"Well hello, Ms. Margret. Glad to see you came to join us. Take your seat and bring out your assay please." Mr. Rich said in his deep voice.

"Where the hell were you Margret?" Cara whispered so that she wouldn't get a warning for talking. I covered my face with my hood, so nobody would see my hurt face.

"Oh you know. I was just... applying... cream for my... rash... yes rash!" That was such a stupid excuse.

"Okay, now that we have this done I would lik-" Mr. Rich pause for a moment and glanced at me.

"Ms. Margret. Please take your hood off. We do not wear that in the school. Please take it off." He gave me 'the look' that I couldn't stand. I took off my hood and everybody gasped.

"Mar dude! What happen to your face!" Thomas said as he was sharpening his pencil.

"Did you apply make-up and you were allergic to it?" The rich girls said as they laughed at the same time.

"Margret! Wha-what happen?" Cara said as she covered her mouth.

"Ha ha ha! She looks so ugly! What did she do this morning!?!?" A bunch of students howled in laughter when a guy said this. More jokes about me were made, and the whole class started laughing hard. Except for Cara. I started to tear up.

"Class calm down! QUIET!!!" Mr. Rich was trying to calm down the crazy laughing class.

I ran outside of the class room and didn't stop till I got outside in front of the school. "Why am I always picked on." I said to myself crying.

I stopped cry after a while. I just sat on the pavement looking at the sky. I didn't want to go back in the class. It felt so relaxing to just sit here and watch the clouds. Cara came out of the school and sat next to me.


"Margret. I'm sorry that you got embarrassed. I'll promise you this. I'll kick their asses if they laugh at you again. Pinky swear." We joined our pinkies together in a promise.

"Come on Mar. We gotta get you inside to the nurse and back to class, okay?"

"Fine." I muttered.


We went back inside, to go to the nurse's office. The nurse's office is hidden. It's like a hunt. So many twist and turns, side to side, and over and over again. Finally, we reached the office. Both of us opened the door and we see Nurse Spices put cream on Johnny's... ... ugh.

"Awkward..." Cara said.

"Honey buns, why don't you two wait in those seats OUTSIDE my office okay?" Nurse Spices asked in a sweet voice.

"Okay." We both say at the same time.


We sat down on the chairs and looked at each other. Then, a few seconds later we started laughing.

"Cara did you see Johnny's face when we opened the door!?!? Ha ha ha ha ha!!!!" I told Cara almost falling out of my chair.

"Yes and did you see how bright pink he was!!!!" We both fell out of our chairs laughing so hard, we couldn't breath.

After the long laugh we got back into place. Johnny still wasn't out yet and I was getting a bit twichy. Cara seemed to be bored out of her wits.

"What do to what to do. I got it! Let's have a staring contest." Cara said feeling cheerful all of a sudden.

"Sure, as long as it can keep me happy!" So there we sat. Face to face. Looking at each others faces.

"Dude that scar is huge. No offence." Cara said tilting her head.

"It's okay. I know it's huge." I said in a laid-back way.


Minuites turned to hours and Cara had won almost every game. Johnny still wasn't done, and we had nothing else to do. We both knew this was going to be a long wait.

"Thanks Nurse Spices." Johnny said as he was exiting the nurse's office. Finally Johnny was done. It took about two hours! Cara and I stared at Johnny. Our eyes were wide in disbelief.

"You like me don't you girls? Ya well, a lot of girls think I'm attractive." We looked at each other in a sick way.

"Johnny you must think were crazy if we liked you." Cara said holding her breath from barfing.

"That's only if your crazy. About me." Johnny winked at each of us, showing his weak muscles.

"Funny. Not." Cara spanked Johnny's behind and he scrambled to his feet.

"I'll... remember... th-that... ow." He walked a funny way down the hall holding his behind in pain. Cara and I high-fived each other.

"Girls come on babies!" Nurse Spices yelled out. We both got up, and went inside the office. It had pink, pink, and pink everywhere. There was a teddy bear quilt hung on the wall that said 'Sugar and spice, with everything nice that's was Nurse Spices is made of' "I think I just went color blind." I whispered to Cara. She smiled and giggled a bit.

"Okay so, who is my special girl, that I'm taking care of?" Nurse Spices ask. I raised my hand high, so the Nurse could see it.

"So it will be you Margret?" Nurse Spices said in surprise. "Oh, Margret what a lovely name sugar! Now now, lets get you to a cot." She grabbed my arm and lunged me over to a cot.

"Okay sugar, what is the problem?" She asked.

"Well I have these bruises and cuts nothing too serio-" Nurse Spices cut me off.

"Not serious? Dear, those are the worst cuts I've seen Sugar! We must get you some medical help!" Nurse Spices was shocked to hear that things are not serious. EVERYTHING is serious to her. She grabbed some gloves and placed it on her plump hands. I was scared to what she might do to me.

I sat on the cot, looking worried. I looked like a four year-old about to get a shot at a hospital. I glanced at Cara and she glanced back. We were both worried. Nurse Spices put her hands on my bruises and cuts.


"Ah, I see the problem. Tell me if this hurts." Nurse Spices put her plump fingers in the middle of my cuts and bruises. She pressed her fingers on them.

"Igh!!!!!!" I yelped in pain. It felt like Nurse Spices was pounding on my cuts, with her some what, hammer fingers!

"Ah. I see. Hmmm. Ah-ha! I'll get some medical alcohol! It will burn that stinging sucker right off sweetums! I'll be back." The fat nurse skipped down her office to find some alcohol. No wonder Johnny didn't leave quickly. Nurse Spices takes the longest time! I felt like I was in a cage. A hurdling cage that gets thrown almost everywhere. Now I think I'm ready to leave the cage.


"Cara... hey Cara!" I whispered.

"Wha-what? What's up Mar?" Cara was sleeping. I guess she gets bored fast.

"I gotta get outta here. Nurse Spices is creepy."

"I know. But, what about your cuts?" Cara asked.

"Well, okay I'll find a way. Come on follow me." We tipped toed across the room quietly. We peaked at the other room. The nurse was there, looking in drawers.

"You ready Cara?" I asked in a worried voice.

"Always. Are you ready?" She shot back.

"Yep. Let's move." I pushed Cara into the other room. She pretended to act like she got hurt badly.

"Ohhhh, I can't feel my legs... I-I-I see... a...a... light." Nurse Spices was falling right into our trap.

"Honey! DON'T GO INTO THE LIGHT NOOOOOO!!!" The nurse was panicking.

"I-I-I need wa-wa-water..." Cara said in a fake, but good voice.

"Yes yes I will get you some water sweetums!" The nurse ran as fast as her fat legs could, down to the other room in the office. I was in that room waiting to make my move. I took a cane, from the nurse's desk and held it out. The nurse made quick moves, as she was about to turn into the room I was in.

"Who-who-whoa!!!! Ack!" The nurse tripped on the cane. I smiled. I took the rope, I made out of the nurse's blankets and tied it on the nurse. Cara and I, carried her to a cot. I grabbed the bungie cords out of my pocket, and strapped down the nurse to the cot.

"Have a nice nappy sweetums!" I yelled out to her.


I took the alcohol, and some ban-aids. I waved a sly good-bye to the nurse as she tried to struggle out of the knots.
So far, today was a bit crazy.
