Chapter 28
When I walked into the living room a few days after the nightmare, I saw all of the bags that were normally scattered across the floor were gone, which meant my mom was gone with them. My heart sank a little, because I was getting used to having my mom living with me again. But after it sank, it rose up again, because that would mean I would have my own house with Chris. I walked into the kitchen to get some cereal, and texted my mom. Charlie: Mom, are you sure you don't want to stay a little longer? Mom: Yeah... actually... I have to tell you something. Charlie: What?! Mom: I have a... date... tonight... which is why I left so early... if I take him back to my house... then I would want to have my own house... Charlie: Mom. I could have lived my whole life without that image. Mom: So you're okay with me going out on a date? Charlie: I'll get over it. Dad's a jerk, so you deserve your fun. Mom: Thanks so much!! I thought you were going to be so much more upset about this... Charlie: You were cool about me being pregnant. I'll give you a break. Mom: Thanks so much Charlie. I got up to put my dish in the dishwasher. There was a note from Chris: My Dearest Love: I'm working now, as you already know. I wanted to take you out to dinner tonight. Meet me at the good restaurant down the street, the one where I took you when you didn't get sick I love you: Chris I texted Chris that I had gotten his note, then wondered what the occasion was. He was probably just making up for leaving me at the Baby Shower. I lounged around for the whole day, then got ready to leave. I wore my best clothes that fit me, and left the house to meet him there. ------------------- ![]() Credit to Aura_Smash :]

I have to admit, this isn't what I really expected of this story, Gelatin_rhino.
When I first saw this thread and read the first chapter, I went "Oh lol another pregnancy story hehehehehelol". Then another pregnancy story popped up and I lol'd. But last night, I decided to read through this thread, just out of curiosity, and I was really interested. It took me about 1-2 hours to read through this (I was on my iPod =P), and I didn't stop reading it. I actually really do like this story. I just have a bit of criticism though, the chapters seem a little bit rushed, if you know what I mean. You shouldn't focus on only one event, add another one or two. They go like, "this happens. that happens. end of chapter" and it's not really interesting for the reader. Try adding in a bit more detail. (: I'll be reading this story until the end. So I encourage you to keep going, kay. ------------------- ...because everybody's gotta die sometime.

Sorry for the wait. I've been busy lately.
Wow. Thanks so much, Harvest Hunny. XD That means a lot to me. I'll add in more events to the chapters now too. --------- Chapter 29 "My lady." Chris said as he stuck his elbow out for me. I put mine through. Mine was so large now from gaining all the weight. He walked me into the restaurant, leading me to a table reserved for us. He pulled the chair out from under the table smiling, and I sat. The waiter came around, and took out orders. I ordered chicken parmesan, and Chris ordered some salmon. "So... why'd your mom move out?" Chris asked me. "It's because she's going on a date, and yeah... I'd rather not go into details." I explained, taking a sip of the water that the waiter placed on the table. Chris chuckled. "Do you miss her?" "Kind of. I mean, I like it better when it's just you and me, but still, she was living with us for a few days and I was getting used to her." "Ah. Well at least it's back to normal. I missed it." Chris smiled, and grabbed my hand. His smile grew, and I couldn't help but smile back. He was staring into my dull eyes compared to his. "Same." I told him. I didn't remember him ever mentioning his parents. He had never talked about them, he didn't even live with them during the summer. "Who are you're parents? Like, you never talk about them." I asked him. He averted his eyes from mine almost instantly, and I sighed. "You don't want to know them..." He started slowly. "My dad is in jail for abusing my mom and I. My mom became a drug addict after that, and hasn't been fit to raise me since. And it was like 8 years ago, so when I was 12. I basically grew up without parents." He looked back into my eyes, and they were a little bit wet. "Oh... I'm sorry..." I stared at the table. The waitor came around after a few minutes and placed the food in front of us, and I quickly dug in. Chris watched my every move, and didn't start eating until I looked up, smiling from the satisfaction of filling my empty stomach. Chris smiled, shaking his head. "I can't wait to see what you eat like once you have Dawn." He chuckled, and I kicked him under the table. He smiled my favorite smile, his ice eyes glittering, and his jet black hair covering parts of them. I smiled while Chris ate his dinner. He kept looking up in mid bite, sticking his fork out to me, offering me some food. Each time I shook my head, even though my stomach was craving more. He shrugged, then went back to eating, each time. After about 10 minutes, the waitor came around and got our dessert orders. I ordered a slice of Double Chocolate Deluxe Cake, and Chris ordered the same. He smiled at me as he placed his order, and I averted my eyes down to my lap. I had a sauce stain on my pants. "Excuse me, I'll be right back. I gotta go to the bathroom." I got up from the table, and walked to the bathroom. There were girls about my age, give or take a few, talking in there. They stared at my bulging stomach, and I just smiled at them and walked over to the sink to wipe off the sauce stain. I got if off as best I could, then walked out of the bathroom. I stared at what was in front of me. I couldn't believe it. I sat down at the table. My chocolate cake was there, along with another surprise. A dark blue, velvet, tiny box sat next to the piece of cake, and written in chocolate syrup that decorated the cake were the words, 'Will You Marry Me?'. I stared blankly at them. I glanced up at Chris. He was staring intently at my face, waiting for an appropriate time to say something. I just kept staring, and eyeing the rock that was placed on the silver ring. "Uh..." I picked a piece off of the cake, ate it, then got up from the table. "I've got to go..." I ran out of the door, chewing on the cake. I didn't look back at Chris' eyes, which were probably full of emotions. I quickly dialed my mom's number. "Hello?" My mom's voice said on the other end, aggravated. "Mom!" I said on the verge of tears. "Hi Charlie. I'm kind of in the middle of my date, so... talk fast, okay?" She said, trying to sound as kind as possible. "Chris proposed..." I said, my voice cracking. "To you?!" "No mom, to the waitress." I sighed. "Yes, to me." "What'd you say?!" My mom eagerly asked. "I didn't... I just kind of... ran away. So like, can you pick me up? How far away are you?" I asked, hoping she wasn't too far away. "Oh lord. You're in the downtown area in your college, right?" My mom's tone was more disappointed now. "Yeah." "I can't be there for about an hour... Sorry, hun." She said. I groaned, and hung up. I was stuck out here until I could make it to my house... no. I couldn't go back there. Chris would be there. I couldn't stand to see his broken eyes, no longer dancing and happy... The tears started flowing harder, and Dawn kicked me hard. "Shut up." I moaned, not in the mood for her torture. I started the long journey to the closest house I could think of that wasn't mine... Chris', and it was Jess' house. Her house was about a 10 minute drive, 20 minute walk from where I was now, since she lived on campus. I started to run, hoping Jess would understand why I had abandoned Chris for the moment. Lulz, this line here, "I'd rather not go into details... but it's because she's going on a date and, yeah." Doesn't make much sense. Maybe it would sound better the other way around, "She's going on a date, and yeah... I'd rather not go into all the details" or something like that. BUT KEEP UP DA GUD WERK!!!!!!111ONESHIFT!~

Chapter 30
"...and then I said no." I finished, inhaling the smell of Jess' dorm. "What the hell! Why'd you say no?!" Jess was practically yelling at me. "Because. I... I know that I live with him... and he's the father of the baby I'm having..." I slumped down into the chair I was sitting in. "What?" Jess begged me. "What else?!" "I'm not ready to be a wife." I said softly. Jess got up from her bed, stood right in front of me, and flicked my nose. "You're not ready to be a wife." She repeated. I nodded. "You're ready to be a freaking mother, but not a wife. You're insane." She was staring at me like I was crazy. I probably was, my life would probably be perfect if I was married to him. "Dinner's ready!" I called into the hallway. Little Dawn ran from her room and into the kitchen. Her blue-green icy eyes sparkled, and her perfect smile was gleaming at me as I placed the chicken in front of her. Chris walked in, and my heart stopped. I made my way back to the counter to get the rest of the food as Chris came over to get it himself. "I'll get it." Chris winked and smiled at me. I just nodded. I picked up my plate, and saw the diamond ring on my finger. I glanced over to Chris' ring finger, and there was a golden band on his. I smiled, as Dawn raved on and on about her first day of school, as Chris smiled the whole time at her. "I know I'm insane." I said as my daydream ended. "I... I feel like there's more commitment to a marriage... I know there is to having Dawn, but I think I can handle that. That part's easy. I'll love her unconditionally, and she will hopefully love me that way too. But, that doesn't always happen with adult love. There is always a chance something won't work, and I don't know if I can take that. I just don't. There's too much expected of me once I'm married, and there's never a 'me' anymore. It's always a 'we'. I feel like I'm too young. I don't know." I felt Dawn kick me, and I patted my stomach with my hand. Jess stared at me like I was a lunatic. Her arms were folded in disgust with me. I was waiting for her to slap me, but she didn't. She just stared. "Do what you will." I encouraged her. I motioned my hand towards me. Jess stared at me for a few more seconds, then went to turn off the light. I sighed, and her eyes flickered towards me one last time before she laid down in her bed with her back to me. I groaned, and went into the bathroom to get some towels as blankets and pillows. I placed one on the ground, and laid on the cold floor, being careful not to hurt my stomach. Her dorm was a smaller one with an attached bathroom. I threw the towels over me, and then realized that I had just left Chris. I didn't know if I would like that or not, but I did it. --------- When I woke up, Jess was already gone. She left a note taped to my forehead that said she had gone to the dining hall for food, nothing more. I groaned as I got up, because my back was killing me. I got my phone, and saw that I had 2 text messages, one from my mom, and one from Chris. I opened the one from my mom first. Mom: Are you okay?? Charlie: Yeah. Mom: Fine, but after you called I was worrying about you. Why'd you say no? It would be nice to have someone to help you with Dawn. Charlie: Long story. I looked at what Chris had said after that, not wanting to read the endless begging from my mom. Chris: ... Was all it said. I didn't know what to say, how to say it, or if I should even answer. I closed my phone and decided I would answer some other time if he texted me again. I got dressed to go to the dining hall to grab some breakfast. I stopped at the fountain, where Chris and I first formally met. When I wasn't sure if he would accept me. He did. He did so much for me, and I just turned him down. I couldn't say yes, though. I sat down on the fountain's ledge, and stared at my reflection. I looked tired, and my cheeks had doubled in size. I couldn't believe this was actually me. My life had changed drastically in these 8 months. And it would never go back to how it was before. "Hi." I whipped my head around, to see Chris standing in front of me. ------------------- ![]() Credit to Aura_Smash :]

Chapter 31
I stared awkwardly at him, and he just smiled at me. After a few seconds, I looked down at the fountain. I tried to find my penny I first wished on, but it seemed to be gone. I dipped my hand in the water. It felt slimey, so I quickly took my hand out and wiped it on the ledge. Chris coughed. My eyes jerked up to him, and his hands were shoved in his pockets. For the first time, I saw him actually ashamed. His eyes darted towards mine, and then quickly looked back down when he saw me staring at him. I flicked some leftover water towards him, and he smiled awkwardly. I patted the ledge next to me, and he reluctantly sat down next to me. "Hi." I answered, late. "Hi." He repeated. I stared back into the fountain, staring at my reflection. I looked tired and scared. Chris stared at my reflection as well, realizing how terrible I looked. I looked back at him, and Dawn kicked me. "Whats up." I asked casually. "Sitting on a ledge." He said. "You?" "Same." I replied. "How's Dawn?" Chris asked. I cringed, realizing he still cared about Dawn. I hadn't even thought about how she was his kid. I always thought that I was just living with him because we were together. "Uh... fine, I guess." I said quietly. "That's good." "Yeah. So uhm, I'm sorry I just ran out like that." I refused to look him in the eyes. "Oh, it's okay." He said like it was nothing. "No it's not!" I said, getting up. "You proposed to me and I didn't even say yes or no, or anything! You deserve way better then me!" I yelled at him. Tears were welling up in my eyes. He was gaping at me. "Don't you ever say that." He said sternly. "Never." He wrapped his arms around me, and I cried on his shoulder. "I... I don't want to be your wife." I said. "Not yet." I whispered. He shushed me, rocking me back and forth while I stained his shirt with my tears. "I... I gotta go." I told him quietly. "Okay." He said. He released me from his grasp, and I ran towards the dining hall to get some food. I didn't know how I was going to handle this. ------------------- ![]() Credit to Aura_Smash :]
