re: La Bleu Café : A Writer's Gathering Place

I have a question, that seems most appropriate here. It's a question pertaining to MS Word.

If I'm writing a novel, or series of poems intended to be novel-sized pages, how would I go about saving, or printing, or viewing a document in novel-sized pages? Is it only possible to print like that with a certain printer/paper? Is it possible to save in such a manner as a PDF file, as a temporary replacement to printing?

Thank you for your help.

I do believe they may have novel- or paperback-sized paper, but if you were writing a novel that isn't what you would print it on. When sending something to a publisher it ahs to be in manuscript form — standard size paper, double spaced, 12-point font. But usually Word or another processor has a paperback-sized paper.

File >> Page Setup >> Paper.

Set the width and the height of the paper there if you want it to resemble a book.

re: La Bleu Café : A Writer's Gathering Place

Ah. I found all the standard sizes ofp aper for self-publishers. It goes as follows:

Mass-Market Paperback - 4¼ X 7
It’s tough to compete with this size in small quantities because the competition is printing tens of thousands. Also, the perceived value of this size is lower than the other book sizes. Be careful on this one.

Trade Paperback and Hardcover – 5½ X 8½ or 6 X 9
The most popular trim size for fiction as well as non-fiction books. Above 500 copies it doesn't make a bit of difference whether you use this size or the trade paperback alternate size of 6 x 9. If you plan to run quantities under 500 copies, stick with this trim (actually 5¼ X 8¼"). It is significantly less expensive than the 6X9 alternate and no lower perceived value.

There are a few other choices, but I don't think it all pertained to what you're looking for. If you'd like the entire list, click here.

I don't know if this has been brought up before... but...

The title should be "le café bleu", if you want to go for proper French grammar. "Café" is a masculin word, so it needs the "le" article, not "la".

Anyway...

The adjective needs to be after the noun. You only fixed the article.

It sounds better that way, grammatically incorrect, or not. Do you really have to put the adjective after the noun?

Yes, you really do. There are certain types of adjectives in French which come before the noun, but colors are not among them. My French is atrocious enough that I didn't notice anything until halo pointed it out, but it is definitely incorrect this way.

How do you do adjectives of colour in Spanish?

To me the way it is written really sticks out, in a very unnatural way. My mind wants automatically to read it the proper way "le café bleu", but then I get hung up on the second word when I actually realise what is written.

re: Le Bleu Café : A Writer's Gathering Place

Do you not speak Spanish? Do you not also see what the point is? Does Spanish not have the same syntax in this respect?

El azul café vs. El café azul... right???

Surely someone who also speaks a language from the latin family tree should appreciate proper grammar. Non?
