im new here, is this the place where i would start off with a few short stories or something?

Right now I have three stories in mind, each one really different than the other. Two have very good plots but weak back stories, where as the other has a great back story but an unoriginal plot. I think I'm really close to something great for my writing, but I just need that extra step to find a good back story or a good plot. Anyone have any suggestions of what I could do to try and find one? I've been taking up meditation (if you want to even call what I was doing meditation) and that's how I came up with this one back story... but hmm, do you have any other routines that help you get ideas?

Hello im luffyluffy and i'm good at writing one shots and things like that but long drawn out storys i cant do...Majer flaw in my skills...

Then stick to short story's, some of the best writers do amazing work with a few paragraphs.

One thing I find is a good help is to do things sentence by sentence each sentence on something different.
eg
Sentence 1: The weather
Sentence 2: Clothing
Sentence 3: A change in weather


stuff like that you know. It helps you become more descriptive over time.

Spelling is my biggest flaw.

I find my greatest problem is carrying on the plot. I have brilliant ideas but i harldy ever seem to finish my stories, yet i love writing long ones.

I'm all over the place - I have three stories at the minute, and one that I am still unsure about. They're all based on video games, but I want to do something more serious - but I need some more ideas...

Mine are based of video games, but i have made A Bittersweet World so dark its almost un-animal crossing (The next chapters gonna be a treat)

Stories dont have to be rushed, ive known people to not update stories for months but then come back and the story is absolutley awsome.

I base most of mine after my RPG characters, either Fayte, Flayle, or Amber. I like Fayte the best, though, her personality's awesome, even though they are all very similar.

Mine are loosely based on alsorts.

Paradise Province - Based on religion or at least the opposite of it due to my twisted mind (What if satan was good? is one of the plot lines). It also resembles Frank Miller's graphic novel 300 but I started PP a month before the movie was announced to be released

The Arena - Based on Gladiator and roman history...enough said really

Art of war - Based on politics and everyday antics such as Iraq and Afghanistan but not actually focusing on them. Just uses the plotline of what happened if alliances broke and new alliances were made

Lunar-cy - Inspired by Godsmack's Moon baby. The name is word play on Lunar and Lunacy, both playing a major part in the story mainly lunatics (or the criminally insane) being used as an experiment to see if werewolves can be controlled...which obviously doesn't go according to plan

Shadow Legends - Based on my online identity, ShadowJ who is loosely based on Spawn

The Assassin - Based on Robin Hobb's The Assassin's Apprentice

Yes, do only one at a time. I tried doing more than one at a time and it did not turn out well. If you want multiple works, then you can have a story thread and then a poetry, and make sure they vary. Right now, I am sticking to Poesis and my autoneography.
