Hi, I'm scorpia_agent, those of you who visit the Pokemon Generalk Forum might have seen Darkness and Light, or my latest PokeFanFic, Penalty of Death. When I posted Legend of Bracktun in here I nearly lost faith as a writer, as only one person actually read it and commented.

Don't be disheartened cos no-one commented except for one - do yo uwrite for enjoyment, or for reviews? If you write for reviews, you need to maybe practise writing stories without posting them anywhere - and when you have finished those stories, you might feel proud in yourself for writing it.

re: Le Bleu Café : A Writers' Gathering Place

Hey, I'm Ashleigh. I love to write, I've been writing seriously for about four years now. I'm actually planning on attending university next year for a double major in History and Creative Writing so that I'll have the background and experience to be a novelist someday.

My aunt is Ami McKay. She published her best-selling novel, The Birth House about a year ago. She actually won the Author of the Year award for it so I'm pretty proud of that.

Apart from writing my own stories, I also roleplay quite a bit which is good practise for me and fun as well. See my neohome for more information about the roleplays I'm in on neoseeker. I also run my own roleplaying forum as well.

Anyway, I just accidentally found this forum and thought I'd spend more time here.

~Ashleigh~

re: Le Bleu Café : A Writers' Gathering Place

Well, hopefully anybody can post here, cause I need some creative writing advice.

Allright, I need some honest opinions here. Does this idea suck? Alright here I go.

The story begins in 2013. We meet Jason Grim, a 14-year old kid who's parents have died in something called'The Centenial War.' His best friend,Brianna Morina, is also suffering from an untreatable disease at this time. Jason decides to use the rest of his parents' fortune to go to Japan, so he can study the elements of the human body. He does this in hope of finding a cure to Brianna's disease and maybe one day reviving his parents. Once there, Jason and Brianna meet Mr. Yun, a college professer who is an expert on the human body. Jason, with his high IQ, catches on to Yun's studies very quickly. With Yun's help, Jason manages to create the Grim Theory, a tool which can cure any disease and even revive dead people. It utilises a shock to the brain and also reconstructes parts of the body by reinforcing to components of the organs and muscles.(more details later) By sharing this theory with the world, Jason is able to literally save the world from war itself. Later on, though, Jason finds a flaw in his theory and the people he had cured and revived experience extreme hormone and anger boosts. Jason then realizes that his greatest fear is death and is forced to make the decision to kill Brianna and his parents, because their minds have completly changed.

Well, what did you think? Good, bad? I call it The Grim Theory. Please tell me if it's worth writing or not.

Don't know if I'd read it but it sounds decent. The main thing I'd work on is grammar/spelling, I saw a few typos that should be fixed.

The story line kinda seems like Frankestien. Bringing the dead back to life, having things go wrong after the experiment and the fear of death. I don't know if it's just me that noticed thise but other than that it's not a bad story line. Keep working on it and it should come out to be a great story.

Thanks for the comments, I think I will go ahead and write it. Though I thought it sounded more like a strange version of Full Metal Alchemist. I didn't come up with this on my own though, it's based on real people.

Sorry about the spelling errors, typing on a Nintendo DS Browser.

re: Le Bleu Café : A Writers' Gathering Place

I was wondering if some people could lend me some ideas of how to come up with stories as well as how to add to stories you've already generated. I'm trying to land a career as a novelist, and I write well enough and have decent enough stories to where I believe I could make it relatively easily, even at such a young age. Well, my English teacher seems to think so anyways. She also happens to be an editor for a smaller publishing company, and told me that anything I can finish and am proud of, I can turn to her and have her help me finalize it and then pass it along and see about getting it published. Which honestly, is amazing. That's a break a lot of people don't get, and I'm thankful for it, but I want to turn in an amazing story first off. Something that will get me notoriety. I have the technique with some practice and exercise, so that's not a problem, and I have a relatively unique diction and voice, but all the stories I'm writing thus far are lacking in some department.

I was just looking for some insight or some help to get me past this.

re: Le Bleu Café : A Writers' Gathering Place

Hmm... a thing that I like to use are characters based on real people. If a character is perfect, he/she won't be interesting to read about. Flaws make a character more lovable, and also memorable. Memorable characters who develop throughout the stories:your chance at a good story. For ideas... I usually base my stories on real events, then evolve them to make them more unique. An example would be... take the usage of steroids. Base your story on the advancment of the human body through illegal devices:you have an interesting story. That idea could turn into something like... people who surgecally remove certain parts of their body and replace them with metallic arms or legs which generate more power. A fusion between man and machine. These people use these tools to win in sports, or even commit dangerous crimes. You could call this book... Chimera. That's how I do my stories. Don't know how other people roll though. Hope this helps ya.

re: Le Bleu Café : A Writers' Gathering Place

Hey, I'm Teodor and I've been around this forum for ages. Probably few people know me because I rarely post nowadays but I have a serios problem. I feel lost, blocked and whatnot. I can't write. Every time I sit and try to start writing I start thinking there is no use doing it. I'm convinced I can't describe anything in a decent way, so why even bother writing? I know what you'll say but just thought I'd post this up.

The best solution to the writer's block I can think of is - READ, read a lot of books from different authors. Get some meaningful novels and go through them. But I don't have the time!

Or sit down and write whatever comes to your mind. That's all good but every time I sit and try that I convince myself it's no use, can't write anything original, everythin has been said already, so why should I waste my time and the time of people who read it.

re: Le Bleu Café : A Writers' Gathering Place

I recommend also posting your works on deviantart.com, it will get some more views there but generally I've got no replies on there either, except from people I know and told about it...

You shouldn't care about it too much though. Keep trying and don't give up. Eventually you will write something people will like. The point for me has always been to use my writing as means to express my deepest emotions. I don't write for other people and once I start, I'm certainly not in control of what comes up, the story forms itself with little guidance from me.

And if it's going to make you feel a bit better, I'm reading your story right now. =)

ey! I'm TheLittlestChocobo, more commonly known as TLC on some forums here. This one is new for me, though. I might have introduced myself here a long time ago, but then forgotten to visit. Oops.

Well, I feel completely stupid making myself a thread for work I'm not particularly proud of. Or even sure of. Everyone here is like a hardcore writer and I'm just doing some stuff in my spare time. I'll try posting some stuff... if I ever write anything good enough...

Hi guys. I'm harvesthunny, but call me Marie. I've written a few stories here, and I just completed two of them, ALyssa Lies and A child's Grudge. I'd love comments on them, especially on How they Came To Be.
