It's pretty good, but at some points you have a lot of choppy short sentences in a row which doesn't do much for the flow of the story. Only at the beginning and a few other points though. ------------------- ![]() Sign my guestbook

I've been writing for five years and still haven't finished a book. But the one's I've started I really like. But everytime I try to pick it up and start again I remember my problem. The character's are in the place I want them to be but with no purpose. They have basically stopped growing and the story starts to grow stale. And I've tried over and over to make the story alive again but it's a DNR. I also have this strange hobby of writing character bios and mapping out the character's past, present, and the way I want the character to grow. Is that strange? I have an idea where I can save my stories by using an outline and planning it out. Is using outlines preferable? Please reply or pm me. Thanks. ------------------- ![]()

well, to tell you the truth, I've only finished one story of my own. For that one I didn't map out anything, or create character profiles. Instead I used me and my friends in a sort of "alternate reality" allowing me to write out what they would do. I am currently trying the whole mapping out the story before I write it, but I find myself getting bored with the actual writing of the story if I know what it is going to happen. ------------------- ![]()

I write character profiles and outlines constantly, but not because it helps my writing. I do it because I like to have that level of organization, not because I'll ever necessarily refer to it again or because I need it for the actual writing. ------------------- Thronging of the thousands up that labour under sea White for bliss and blind for sun and stunned for liberty. -Lepanto, GK Chesterton

The extent of my character mapping is sketching them. I find that I become more in-touch with them, and I can picture them better. But I've never created character profiles out of role play; I like to keep it all in my head. ------------------- New Screenname:
