you may be able to if you use it if you have the Media/Video player in your apps, since for every 30 minutes of movie, it is roughly 500 Megabytes. i dont see why not.
you may not be able to have very much stuff if you do thou.

re: Homebrew Guide and Discussion

To "brick" is to render an electronic device completely useless through software. Basically, it means "ruins it".

Anyway, don't worry, it it doesn't brick your Wii. It's completely safe to use at the moment. There is always the risk of an update that will mess the software up, but it will most likely just stop the homebrew channel from working and not the Wii itself.

re: Homebrew Guide and Discussion

Don't worry, they won't. It's just that there is a small risk with installing updates. Chances of anything happening is pretty low, though, and you don't need to install an update right away. You could always wait to see if it's safe (many people use their Wii for homebrew, so word spreads fast about this kind of stuff).

You can but playing DVD's is still in the experimental stages, meaning its probably gonna have a couple of bugs.

re: Homebrew Guide and Discussion

the dvd player works great! i just tried spiderman 2 to see if it works, and there were no frame drops at all, from what i could tell.

the only thing was that for a couple seconds after you skipped ahead a chapter, the audio would keep going on the old chapter and then change. but all i did was pause and play it and it fixed.

re: Homebrew Guide and Discussion

When will the 100% version of the DVD player be out?
does it cause strain on the Wii's Disc Reader? since i heard the Wii wasnt built to have continuous reading of discs.

re: Homebrew Guide and Discussion

no, it's a total myth. you're running the drive at system spec. rate.

wear and tear of watching 1 movie = wear and tear of playing 2 hours of a game

this myth came from people overclocking the drive of other systems to get dvd's to play, which isn't needed on the wii, since it has dvd playback coded into itself somehow, i just forgot how

but that code is how you can play dvd's without a modchip.
