Homebrew is not illegal. Otherwise this thread would have been closed ages ago.
Just because it isn't endorsed by Nintendo doesn't mean it is illegal. Now though, what Benedict is trying to do with it is illegal. Installing VC games without paying for them is the only thing that illegal, or any other ROMs for that matter. But discussing the applications, methods and such, is not. ![]() -------------------

I have a question.
I've been reading up on this, and it tells me that there's a chance of my Wii getting bricked. If it does happen to get bricked, will I still be able to have it replaced by the warranty? Additionally, if I were to install the Homebrew Channel, if a Wii System Update were to occur, would it be possible for the channel to be rendered useless? -------------------

There's always a small chance of breaking your Wii when running Homebrew applications. I honestly don't know if the warranty covers that. As far as I know, as long as you don't open your Wii to put some other hardware (like a chip), then it SHOULD. But again, I am not sure.
A Wii System update can brick your Wii IF you have a chip. It was problem, I was screwed with AC:CF, but I managed to bypass the update window. As far as I know, the channels will not be rendered useless. It only affects hacked gamesaves. ![]() -------------------

No, do not update your Wii if you do not have to (even if you don't have a mod chip) as there is a chance it will be bricked (a recent update bricked homebrew'd Wiis iirc). When an update comes out, either ignore it or visit the WiiBrew site to download an application that will install the update safely.

I have a question, if I get AC:CF for christmas, will there be an update that will block homebrew and maybe brick my wii? If there is, how can I bypass this?
