GC Games on the Wii.

Sorry if there's a thread like this >___>' I tried looking around.

Anyways, before I got the Wii I used to play Harvest Moon: Magical Melody ((HM:MM)) on my GC. The game is huge, and when it's loading it usually made the GC make these clicking noises - really loud and defined ones. I didn't really pay attention because the GC is pretty sturdy.

So the other day, for the first time, I put the game into my Wii and started to play. But it made the same sounds as it did on my GC. Being new and something that my family frequently uses, I don't want the game to break the Wii or hurt it in any way. Are the clicking noises the result of something that's gonna hurt the Wii, or is it normal? :\ I only worry because they're really loud and I don't want it to blow up or something because of the game XD

I dont think that will happen!

Maybe its something to do with the disc itself. Do any of your other GC games do that when in the Wii?

re: GC Games on the Wii.

All of the Nintendo disc systems use the same loading mechanisms, by displacing the sensor from the disc while it starts spinning faster.
That's usually what that noise is.

My Wii console makes similar sounds. I believe it's exactly what Ste Guitar said. No need to worry.

That game is the only one that I've ever played on the Wii >.< I was afraid to try anything else because I didn't want to do it wrong and end up getting my GC game stuck in it XD

But on the GC, that's the only disc that really made it do that. Like I said, the game is huge and really detailed in a lot of areas, so that's why I think it did that.

So...it's normal to do that? It's not harmful to the Wii? D: Cus I really, really wanna play XD

re: GC Games on the Wii.

Whenever I'm playing games on my Wii, there are always loudish clicks when it is loading something. My Wii has disc issues, sometimes the game just won't load. You tend to notice it more then there is no sound, like when a game is loading in Brawl.

re: GC Games on the Wii.

If your Wii isn't even loading them, it's probably because your sensor is dirty/damaged.
Cleaning this is much trickier than the GCN because you can't open it, but blowing in it should help.
