Chemist, actually.

That was my last guess. What do you do. Teaching, what?

Oh, and you are by far the coolest chemist I've ever talked to

If the Wii audience begs for hardcore games, we don't need things like this, we want stuff like Little Kings Story!
Yes, please. D:

I have a feeling this game won't be as good as its made out to be. (The Grinder, not LKS)

Developers made excellent games with this amount of horsepower last gen, and HVS is making it fairly obvious that the "last gen." consoles had a ton of untapped potential not apparent until now.
But the gap between power in last gen wasn't as big as current gen.
That's not what I'm saying. What I mean is, HVS is applying techniques and effects from the current gen. consoles on what amounts to the approximate power of the Xbox, meaning all these advanced effects were just as possible 7 years ago, just not seen. They are showing that the Wii is capable of more, and that the last gen. consoles were capable of more than the developers were willing to push, or didn't know how to create at the time, and I think more developers should take the time to fully realize the tech that they have been working with for basically the last decade.

Basically, every company that makes something needs a chemist. I'd like to do something in industry, or possibly research. However, I'm currently a temp. IT guy, with the economy as it is.

Probably, but then again, it is being billed as the savior of the Wii, so expectations are already unreasonable high as it is.

To be honest I don't get why the Wii even NEEDS a "savior". The Wii has a great assortment of different genres that appeal to all ages. Not only that, but the Wii is expecting a lot of great games in the future; Little Kings Story, Pikmin 3, a new Endless Ocean. <- A good casual game.

Actually, yeah. Using chemical principles to test aspects of products is common in pretty much ever industry.

But this is getting off topic.

Yeah, I guess. On-topic: Do you think this will be better or worse than L4D?

re: The Grinder: Wii exclusive FPS with 4 player online Co-Op

I haven't played L4D, so I have no basis for comparison. But that's never stopped me before, so...

Valve certainly has more experience and a better pedigree for online multiplayer, and we haven't even seen The Grinder in motion yet, so I imagine L4D will end up being better. I still think this will be a good buy though, and can't wait to find out more about the game, and see it in motion.

re: The Grinder: Wii exclusive FPS with 4 player online Co-Op

Valve's a top-notch developer for PC Games, and though I haven't played L4D, I don't doubt the game's quality one bit.

They're just more PC focused (and by extension, 360); I mean, they do run Steam, after all.

I definitely wouldn't call The Grinder a 'L4D-killer', though.

This looks to be a very fun game. Like Left for Dead which is awesome.

I'll drool too once Nintendo comes in and fix Wii Speak. It'll be impossible to hear your teammates above their TV sets. And having them turn their TVs down will only mean they can't hear you. Nintendo is harming what could be a great killer app.
I personally don't see the point of Wii Speak. It's basically trying to fill the space that was forgotten once the world of texting was revealed to cell phones.

Wii Speak is supposed to have some descent Noise canceling tech built in, removing speaker audio from the input. I doubt it will be much of a problem.

quote IGN
High Voltage Software, best known for The Conduit, is set to deliver its most ambitious game yet next year. Called The Grinder, the Wii-exclusive first-person shooter is like a Nintendo console version of Left 4 Dead. Gamers become special bounty hunters gunning for the undead, vampires, werewolves and more. Of course, The Grinder is the result of everything HVS learned with The Conduit and not only looks better, but features more on-screen characters than ever before. But best of all? In addition to a full set of deathmatch options, the title boasts a four-player cooperative online mode.

The developer showed off The Grinder at E3 2009 and we came away very impressed. In today's developer diary, HVS producer Josh VanVeld chats about some of the gameplay refinements the company has introduced to the experience in the short time since. We've also posted new screens and videos for your viewing pleasure.
