Yeah, its not like they've gotten the casual DS audience to upgrade twice already.
Oh, wait. Also, Nintendo has already stated their support of High definition output in their future consoles, due to the increasing attach rate of HD TVs and the lowering costs of the technology. -------------------

Nintendo was actually pretty smart with the Wii. They saved money in their R&D department by not upgrading the power of their console(by much) and spending money on the motion controls. My guess is that the motion controls didn't cost them much money because they were able to price the console so cheaply and I'm sure they aren't losing money on it. I can see them stepping up the power in the next console because they won't need to develop the motion controls by that much. I mean look at N64 and the innovation of the thumbstick/joystick and then they kept it for GCN but upgraded power. They innovated this time with motion control and I'm sure will upgrade power next console. All they need to do to keep customers AND get them to buy games is to get some good, violent games. Sorry to say that but that's what draws people, including myself. I love Mario and Zelda and Samus but their stories are redundant and get stale. They need games on the level with Halo(even though 3 sucked) and Gears and games like those to attract people. But to get those kinds of games they need power and real online, not this crap they have now. The Conduit is a good step in the right direction though.

quote JonnyPotSmokerChances are if you're a Nintendo fan and own a Wii, you didn't buy it for violence. You bought it for innovation, unique art styles, etc. Games like LKS fit the bill well. Unfortunately, violent games do translate into sales thanks to those Halo and Madden guys on the 360, so it looks necessary for Nintendo to also cater to them. Pity ------------------- quote SeaNanners

quote Dragon ZEROI never said that. When I say "graphics", I also mean overall hardware power. The Wii is barely a GCN 1.5. Why is it that game like Bioshock will never be on the Wii? No, it isn't just because the graphics will suck, but you also have to think about enemy AI and count. Also, it could be said that part of the reason games like Bioshock and Dead Space are so great is because of the outstanding graphics that immerse you in the experience. Why is the GCN Resident Evil scarier than the PS1 version? It ain't because of controls, soundtrack, story, or innovation, so what is it? Of course I'm not trying to say that graphics are even on the same level as fun factor in gameplay, but you can't simply disregard the importance of strong visuals just because Nintendo says so. Tell me, would you be against a more powerful Nintendo console? Were you angry when the GCN was more powerful than the N64? If people are always satisfied with the crap they get, it will never improve. The Wii 2 (or whatever it'll be called), won't even be half as powerful as the Xbox 360, if it even comes out at all. You heard it here first. quote Dragon ZEROMadden is a violent game.

Graphics help, but isn't necessary. We can all enjoy LoZ OoT, even with its bad graphics by today's standards.

quote Dragon ZERONot really. Yes that is true for hardcore fans, but with over 50 millions units sold most of those consoles are in casual gamers' hands. With that being said many casual gamers get drawn into violent games like your Halos, Gears of Wars, etc. And you can't really make those games without power, I mean look at the Conduit, it suffers from the lack of hardware which is needed for a game of it's type. ------------------- ![]() Wii: 2909-9932-6412-3857 Brawl: 3866-7691-9411

I consider there to be 3 types of audiences:
Hardcore - Mario galaxy, LKS, World of Goo, pretty much anything Casual - Boom Blox, Wii Sports, Hannah Montana the Movie The Video Game, etc Violent/Manly/Gore/"Halo and Madden" - Halo, Madden, Gears, etc Wii got hardcore and casual, but ignored Gore. So of course it wouldn't attract that group. ------------------- quote SeaNanners

The Conduit doesn't suffer from a lack of computer power, it suffers from poor art direction and a linear story, both of which are very much present in numerous "HD" games.

quote bbb7002004The poor art direction and linear story are both true but it does suffer from the Wii having a lack of power. Its graphics are good for the Wii, but that doesn't say much. Notice how most walls are just a plain color? Now look at walls in other FPS game son PS3, 360, or PC. They have amazing textures everywhere. It's due to power. The Conduit also has bad voice acting, but that's just HVS' fault. And you can't really say that there is a crowd specifically for gore. Everyone likes gore, for the most part. Sports, like Madden, go under casual gamers. I don't see why Nintendo keeps their heads up their asses and doesn't push any good FPS games or anything with some sort of violence. They would sell like hotcakes on the Wii for using the Wii remote. ------------------- ![]() Wii: 2909-9932-6412-3857 Brawl: 3866-7691-9411

re: The next gen Nintendo system |

Because Nintendo is Japanese, and Japanese people don't buy FPS's? Because they make much more money selling Mario and Wii Fit than they ever would with an FPS? Those would be my guesses.
Also Jonny, plenty of the areas in The Conduit have texture on their walls, just a large amount of the areas in the game are based on actual DC buildings, which have very minimal plain white walls, or are in slick, futuristic underground bunkers, with little need for heavy textured. Many parts of the sewer level and the city areas have brick textures and such. Part of this is due to Wii's hardware, but most of it is location setting and art design. I also don't care about textures that much. To be frank, you never see them unless you are one of those people who just enjoy running into walls and staring at them instead of shooting aliens. I guess I just see eye candy as a kind of gimmick, one that I forget about after around 5 minutes of playing a game. After that point, I'm just playing the game, nothing else particularly matters. -------------------
